Neither of them are very good at placement. They’ll figure it out next year when they bring grass for the egg bowl and dig around. They get poked a few times by sticks, it’ll sink in. LOL!

They’ve been coming back periodically all summer. It’s just a matter of checking the cam at the right time. They show up in the afternoons, too, which is during my sleep time.

Yes, that was Raimis who flew in and out a couple of times. Meitene sat on the branch for a while before leaving.
It used to be easier to tell them apart by their tail feathers but now she’s lost most of the black she had earlier this year. Now we have to go by their overall coloring - - she’s a little darker than he is.

I figured she was the darker one, but it’s been a while since I’ve watched them so I wasn’t totally sure.

Guess I’d better go for tonight. One more appointment in the morning. I’d love NOT to have morning stuff to do. I am not good at it. LOL!

She’s darker now because she’s younger but they might be the same shade by next year. Getting a good look at their tail spots will be the only way to tell them apart. IF they come back to this nest first and claim it. Another pair could get there first.
