Seems to me that there were previous calls to remove the carvings at Stone Mountain.

I recall that the carvings were on private property and untouchable. Anybody know?

These people calling for removal of statues, monuments and carvings are no different than the Taliban destroying monuments in Iraq.

This is the tail wagging the dog on this issue. A small radical Left is trying to erase visible symbols of our history.

State owned.

Originally privately owned. The state of Georgia bought the Stone Mountain carving in like the 60s or 70s, and owns it now.

No one in the State Legislature is going to vote to remove Stone Mountain. Even black Democrat Hank Johnson, who represents the district in which Stone Mountain resides, said in 2015 after the whole Roof-inspired anti-Confederacy media hysteria thing to leave Stone Mountain alone.
