I thought the Civil War was fought more over states’ rights than slavery. As horrible slavery was/is, can’t just lay this sin at the feet of the Southern states. Slavery was legal and the law of the land when the Civil War began.

These men were fine men, men of their time, brilliant military strategists. Many American citizens today are descended from those who served honorably in their army and they deserve to be honored for giving their lives for their cause.
