Equating the two sides is a losing argument.

Trump isn't equating the two sides, he was pointing out the many misleading statements put out by the press and their left wing friends. Trump correctly noted that not everyone protesting on either side was a "bad person." Unlike the position of the left wing media and politically correct types, it is appropriate for people to protest for or against the removal of a historic statue.

Moreover, Trump pointed out that the "alt-left" was also guilty of creating violence, a point the press people refused to admit, and clearly were and are trying to bury in their coverage.

All of the leftist fake outrage over the violence in Charlottesville ignores the role of their intolerance for opposing views and speech which is really the root cause of the violence. Had the Antifa leftists simply ignored the other marchers there would have been no injuries or loss of life. Free speech, a fundamental right in our nation, includes the ability for people to express unpopular, stupid, and even repugnant points of view. And that includes neo-nazi's, white supremacists, and various radical leftists who want to have parades or demonstrations to present their ideas.

What the leftists want, and the media wants, and the politically correct want is a society where only the speech that they approve can be presented in public. And they, and their friends in Antifa and other similar groups, think using violence to silence ideas they don't like is acceptable.

It isn't, and that should be the most important message about the violence in Charlottesville. The government has an obligation to protect the free speech rights of everyone, even people presenting ideas that are stupid and repugnant. Allowing one group to use violence to silence other points of view is completely against the principles of our nation.

Exactly right!
