Walmart’s C.E.O. Joins Group to Rebuke Trump Over Charlottesville
New York Times ^ | 8/15/2017 | Rachel Abrams and Michael Corkery

Walmart’s chief executive issued a strong rebuke of President Trump’s response to the protests that turned violent in Charlottesville, Va., saying the president “missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together.”

The criticism came in a statement that the retailer’s chief executive, Doug McMillon, emailed to employees Monday evening, which was reviewed by The New York Times. The statement was later posted on a company website.

“As we watched the events and the response from President Trump over the weekend, we too felt that he missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting the appalling actions of white supremacists,” he wrote.

Doug McMillon needs to hear that his customers are NOT ok with his statement! Why does his statement go after Trump, but not condemn the continuing racism and violence coming from the democrats, Antifa, BLM, the Socialist groups, and others? Tell them what you think!

I sent a message criticizing the hypocrisy of speaking out now and being silent under Obama.

Boycotting Wal-Mart is a tall order, but somebody’s gotta do it.

What possessed this person to say anything at all?

Because, if it is anything like our nearby Walmart store, a very large chunk of their sales are to the EBT crowd.

What they don't understand is when the EBT card runs dry every month they don't have the disposable cash to buy things like people who have jobs.

It was sweet of him to take a break from paying employees a dollar an hour for long enough to issue a stupid statement.

Thanks for the number.

I called and said that I have been a Walmart customer for many years but that I will not be shopping at Walmart anymore. Said that it is because their CEO Doug McMillon attacked the president for no good reason. And if he can’t support President Trump I won’t support Walmart.

Keisha’s cold tone told me that she was not happy with my statement.

The corporatist class has veered hard to the left (the social left, not necessarily the economic left) over the years. This is something many people don’t understand - they still have an image of “businessmen” as broadly-conservative. But that impression is badly outdated in 2017. Many people high in the corporate ranks are open or semi-concealed “SJWs” - and they aggressively promote each other while firing adversaries without mercy.

These big companies since Clinton have been infiltrated and comprimised by the left.

Our recourse is OBVIOUS. Stop financially supporting big companies. In any and all instances, buy from small and or private companies that are not hostages of teh left.

Realize, many of these folks have been compromised sexually and financially and are being blackmailed and threatened by the left as we speak.

The infiltration of nut jobs into the today’s business world is appalling. Sam Walton must be screaming from his grave. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot with your consumer base, this is it.

In a lot of small towns Walmart is the only place to go. And the only employer. Where we had a house recently that was the case.

Its insane. I really question how Trump got elected. It can only be the hand of God. It seems every business or every person I come across are anti Trump. I have never seen this much hate for any one person. Its insane and it is sad. I guess the vast majority dont want to see our country prosper. They enjoyed the punishment heaped on us by 0bama.

This nation does not deserve Mr. Trump. We really deserved Hillary

I was in a Walmart in nowhere, AL the other day. Small town Alabama. The shoppers were all MEXICAN. I lived in Arizona on the Mexican side of Tucson for seven years. I felt like I had been transported. The big Walmarts in Mobile, AL are a mess. There are lots of black shoppers. I’m Southern. I expect that. But the number of Muslims and Mexicans is a bit shocking. So maybe this CEO thinks there will be no negative impact from a loss of a bunch of angry rednecks. Or maybe he is noticing that folks have lost their food stamps and can’t shop as much.

LOL You don’t know what you are doing. Costco is as far left as you get in retail.

==============================\

Uh yes I do know what I am doing, thank you for allowing me to again post the Walmart customer relations number:

http://stock.walmart.com/investors/investor-resources/contact-investor-relations/default.aspx

Just got off the phone with Walmart...I suggest people give them a call...I called investor relations and was then transferred to Customer relations...Person I spoke with did not know about the NYT article...they need to hear from us Trump voters.

Here is the phone number:

479-273-4000

Costco is No farther left than anyone else these days...look at Amazon, Target~we don’t have a K-mart nearby.

Uh Every retailer seems to be socialist leftist these days. However, it Walmart who CAME OUT THIS WEEK TO “REBUKE” my President. I want the CEO to understand that he has alienated at least one customer—and I will now shop just about anywhere except Walmart.

Just so you know, I have not been to Costco in over a year...however, my son buys his gas there as he lives in Cali and it is terribly high priced everywhere but there...we have a joint membership.

I do shop often at Walmart (and have avoided Target due to their Transgender bathroom policy).

I think WALMART NEEDS TO FEEL A BIG PINCH FROM TRUMP VOTERS BECAUSE WALMART CEO POLITICIZED WALMART, so I will be going just about anywhere but Walmart for the next fiscal quarter or two which hopefully, like Target, will show declines.

Hopefully if IF ENOUGH TRUMP VOTERS WILL CALL WALMART CUSTOMER RELATIONS, THE CEO WILL TAKE IT BACK, but if they do nothing, then more CEOS will dis our President.

Now since you think YOU DO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, and felt so compelled as to point out to me (large font~nice touch...) that I did not know what I was doing, tell me, where do you recommend we all shop for all the stuff that middle class families would buy at Walmart—stuff like laundry detergent, paper products, cleaning supplies, diapers, etc...

A Message From Doug

Respect for the individual is one of our core beliefs at Walmart. And the role we play in communities around the country to build a more diverse and inclusive society is more critical than ever as the tragic events in Charlottesville over the weekend painfully reminded us. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

As we watched the events and the response from President Trump over the weekend, we too felt that he missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting the appalling actions of white supremacists. His remarks today were a step in the right direction and we need that clarity and consistency in the future.

Our country is facing some very difficult issues that require our elected officials, business leaders and community-based organizations to work together. Representing a company with the largest and one of the most diverse groups of associates in the U.S., and an even more diverse customer base of tens of millions of customers, we believe we should stay engaged to try to influence decisions in a positive way and help bring people together. I will continue to strongly advocate on behalf of our associates and customers, and urge our elected officials to do their part to promote a more just, tolerant and diverse society.

Thank you for representing Walmart and our values today — and every day.

Time to find a suitable alternative to Walmart even if I have to drive much farther.

2 stores chains come to mu mind...though I don’t know how far they extend as they are regional...

1. Meijer Food Stores...They sell a lot of merchandise in addition to groceries. Competitive pricing. I don’t see a lot of objectionable stuff on their website...

2. Menards may be a good alternative as well—they sell a lot of cleaning supplies, etc. in addition to hardware and home improvement items.

You are correct. And if they are making as much as Walmart is in Bentonville, while screwing their employees nationally, then I guess they can take some time to be either dishonest or stupid.

But I feel it comes down to the hero thought process. This guy is a profession athlete, he must be smart. And this guy is the CEO of a successful company, he must be smart. And the news presents it that way and the foolish citizenry buys into it. Dominoes. And they don’t pick them up.

I buy 80% of my food at Aldi now. Cheaper and quicker in and out.

I’ve noticed the same. The wetback cockroaches are in every corner of this country. From sea to shining see. Only a matter of time before they out breed us. Last week I saw one Mexican couple with 4 kids all under about 5-6 years. They get welfare and pop them out fast.
