“Ive gotten into binge watching 1970s BBC produced historical dramas (Edward the Seventh, Elizabeth R). Now well into Fall of Eagles, with Jean Luc Picard playing Lenin.”
While you’re at it, check out “I, Claudius.” There Patrick Stewart played Lucius Sejanus, the right-hand man of the Roman emperor Tiberius.
TV series production is going to hit the wall so hard it will be shocking.

I have old friends who work in production. They are saying that many of these production houses are losing money. On does special effects, and he is thinking about returning back home because he can’t afford to do it anymore.
I would add one more facet to this gem: The off-screen diatribes against half of the potential audience lessen the interest in going to the theater. When stars and directors take pains to insult and demean half of their potential audience, they should not be surprised that the audience's tolerance for marginal product wanes significantly.
Not going to support a bunch of condescending, Leftist morons who relentlessly push their radical agenda rather than actually try to provide entertainment. Hope they go seriously broke.
Rifftracks made fun of Samurai Cop which deserves being bashed.
Me and the spouse watchef it streaming and the flick had the f word in a few places. That’s a first for them. I’m surprised that they didn’t bleep that out.
It’s still one of the best movies made for being ripped apart. I’d put it on par with The Room in terms of awful.
On Thursday, the gang will take on the 80s Five Doctors movie. I look forward to it. Rifftracks and classic movies via Fathom events are the only reasons I go to the theater.
If there are two characters in the movie one is gay.
The way the Hollowoodies have been acting since November 9th, 2016, what AMERICAN in their right mind would want to support them?
Saw The Founder on a recent flight and thought it was inspirational. A very good movie.
McConaughey is no longer a draw. And most of today’s movie goers have no idea who Tom Hanks is.
Plus, millennials simply don’t go to movies.
Finally, Hollywood is evil. Lots, including me, stopped feeding the beast years ago.
The one thing the public is craving more than any thing else is MORE 98lbs white women beating the crap out of every one!
That’s just so cutting edge!
I will go see the December Star Wars movie only to keep the streak going; I have seen every Star Wars movie in the theater when it was released. (I saw the original seven times, but hey, I was 17 years old). Mrs. henkster and I will go see two, maybe three movies a year. Depends on what’s out there. We looked last weekend because we were bored; there was nothing worth watching. (She’s not Dunkirk material).
I guess I should admit, that I will be seeing the next two chapters in the Star Wars saga. And perhaps a couple of the Marvel movies and Dunkirk
LOL. I love your post. Spot on. What were those Hollowoody idiots thinking?
Two movies did not ridicule Christians and traditional values and that advocated dont trust the government to take care of you:
Detroit
Kidnap - Halle Berry. This movie has the best acting of the year (so far). It’s story line is all about pro-family, take care of your own family. Don’t trust the government to take care of your family.
I’ll go see Star Wars.
The last 18 or so movies I’ve seen were all either Star Wars or Marvel or DC or “God’s not dead”
They don’t really make movies anymore, they just make video screeds.
(I did see “The Quiet Man” on TCM this week. Excellent movie!!)
I will admit I still go to the theater though. I’m a theater popcorn junkie. Buy the popcorn and take it home to watch something good.
First off, culture shock using computerized kiosks for buying reserved seat tickets and at the snack bar. And then there was the financial shock.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was OK, but NOT the $30 it cost for 2 of us to see it, and nowhere as good as the original. Should have waited to rent it or PPV.
Despicable Me 3 was really surprisingly good, better than #2, and nearly as good as the original. We were tempted to see it again, but will wait for the BluRay release.
Hollywood hasn't had anything worth my going to the theaters to watch, but as a bonus, for many in Hollywood, I'd rather not contribute to their bottom line.
