Tiki Brand is distancing itself from white nationalists who used tiki torches in a protest march in Charlottesville, Virginia.
"Tiki Brand is not associated in any way with the events that took place in Charlottesville and are deeply saddened and disappointed," the company said in a statement Monday. "We do not support their message or the use of our products in this way."
The white nationalists marched at the University of Virginia on Friday to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. On Saturday, white nationalists clashed with counter-protesters, and a woman was killed when a car plowed into a crowd.

There’s no way to win this repudiation game. They did it with the campaign over David Duke. Trump repudiated him again and again and it didn’t matter. “It wasn’t strong enough, early enough, and we hear dog whistles.”

This is ridiculous - did someone actually confront them and ask them this or was it a voluntary statement?
I bet they were getting outraged calls / e-mails from liberal snowflakes claiming that since they saw tiki torches there, which is a commercially available consumer product, they must be participating in the event.
That actually brings to mind something else - ultra left groups were also all carrying these same things in one of their rallies - I believe at the Berkley riots. People don’t just show up in the hundreds and happen to all have tiki torches so it was obviously organized and planned, just as this white supremacist rally - another indication they could have a common source of planning, funding, and organization - designed to spark civil unrest for the sake of doing so.
