I have never heard of “Unite the Right” until Charlottesville.... I did see info somewhere that “Unite the Right” was formed by and funded by Soros. I don't remember where, but scans of the startup docs were posted.
I'm working now and can't dive into it. Maybe someone with more time can do some research.

Richard Spencer is pretty well known. I think “Unite the Right” was a one-time (or maybe ongoing) name that he chose.
