And apparently he had a lot of input on that insane character in that when they suggested it to him he said, “I want him to have big hands, and I want to dance.”

That movie and Something About Mary are the two most insane movie-going experiences I ever had. People were losing their minds in the audience and falling out of their chairs and stuff.

I just could not connect with Vanilla Sky, not matter how much I tried. Chuck Klosterman wrote a really good essay on it if you are interested.

Eyes Wide Shut has aged shockingly well. It was so hyped when it came out that seeing it almost felt like homework (homework with a lot of nudity). But with distance, there is some amazing stuff there.

I still think that Kubrick was pulling an elaborate prank with Cruise in that movie. Every single person he interacts with responds to him sexually. And he seems totally unaware of it.

Actually, the only reason that “Tropic Thunder” is even on my radar scope is because of Cruise’s performance. If it weren’t for that, it probably would have just been an average comedy. “Something About Mary” was good, but not sure it was great.

Probably my most memorable [comedy] movie going experience was watching “Animal House” in the theater ~1979 or so. It was one continuous laugh riot and crowd was very rowdy. Seeing the original “Star Wars” in 1977 was my most memorable, for reasons that should be obvious. I ended up seeing in 3X in 3 weeks.
