BACK TO SCHOOL

By Naval Support Activity Chapel Staff

A child came home from his first day of school. His mother asked, “What did you learn today?” He said, “Not enough. I have to go back tomorrow”.

Going back to school is always difficult for both teachers and students. It also means more traffic with school buses back on the road; probably the only ones delighted about schools reopening are the parents.

Going back to school can be a milestone. Kindergarten, sixth grade, high school and college are all significant marks of progress and change (especially when the kid finally gets a job!). For parents, these can be good times to reflect -- and perhaps to set new goals.

It is good to reflect on memories of your kids growing up, and how proud you are of who they are becoming. It is also important to understand what they will need next as they grow and develop.

An important goal is not only to ensure that they learn reading, writing and arithmetic, but also that they learn about God as well. The Bible tells us to train and teach our children in the ways of God (Proverbs 22:6 and Ephesians 6:4). One great way to do this is to take them to church.

Howdy, radu! How was your Saturday. Hope it wasn’t too hot/humid there!

Mine was great! Quiet, which is how I like it.

It’s thundering like crazy and we’re hoping for rain. We had a teensy quiet rain this morning. Didn’t measure much, but kept the temp cooler than I we thought it was going to be.

Howdy do, Conor. *Hugz*

Enjoying a relaxing weekend? Did you get a lot accomplished with the renovations this week?

Hey radu!

It cooled off a bit and more cooling to come.

Funny thing happened today. I went up to mow about 10:00 AM, just as I started to mow, the sky opened up and rained hard! I left the mower under a big tree and retreated to the work shed, hoping that it would peter out but no, it rained hard for about 30 minutes. Bottom line, mowing happens tomorrow instead, LOL. It all dried-up after a couple of hours but it was nice to see rain after none falling for a few months.

Daughter is coming to town this week to visit for a few days so it'll be nice to see her.

'Sup today with you and the 'lil darlings?

Howdy, LUV!

Man, it was a sauna here today. Just stifling. We had a brief shower late in the afternoon and that cooled things off a little but it’s still uncomfortably humid.

Hubby picked a heck of a day to burn tree debris but we’ve been enjoying a nice big fire the past couple of hours. He cut up a couple of the cedars that were blown over in March and lit up the pile while I was feeding the cats their supper. We love big fires, even in August heat. LOL!

Hope you get some more rain tonight. I’m jealous there’s thunder with yours. We just got wet with ours.

WOOHOO for progress!
Is there light at the end of the tunnel yet or do you still have a ways to go?

We still have a way to go - we've lived here for almost 30 years and a lot of things need to be updated. These pics show the Flooring and Wainscoting in our Foyer:

Well it’s about time you got a little cooler weather! Glad if finally decided to show up! That rain shower was a nice surprise to add to it.

Neat that your daughter will be there for a few days. You don’t get to see her all that often. Should be fun times for all of you.

Things are quiet here this evening. Hubby’s still keeping an eye on the pile of tree debris he decided to burn this evening. I’ve been out there a few times just to enjoy the flames.

The kittens seem to finally be getting over their head funk. They’re napping now but were quite rambunctious this afternoon. First time they’ve been that rowdy in over a w eeek. It was good to see.

It sounds like it’s raining pretty hard. And the thunder is LOUD! You’d love it! LOL!

A fire is nice, but on a hot humid day in August. Not at all appealing, but I’ll bet it was pretty.

Lucky you! Rain AND racket. LOL!
We have rain chances every day for the next week so maybe we’ll get a boomer or two before it’s over with. And it BETTER be over with by the 21st!!!!!!

The fire’s prettier now that it’s dark. I can see it from the house now. I’ll head back out there shortly to admire it and smell the cedar smoke again. :-)

It does smell good, huh! I hope you do get some more rain and that it actually cools things off.

It’s supposed to be in the high 90s here tomorrow, and I’m hoping that it won’t get that hot due to the cool-down tonight.

Cedar smells wonderful when it burns. I don’t stand in the smoke but can still get whiffs of it.

Weather report just ended and no more rain tonight, or tomorrow. But from Monday on ......
And it’s going to be hot.

This stalled front needs to move OUT! It can rain next Sat. but that needs to be the end of it. We’ve gotten rain and this is supposed to be our dry month.

I never mind the rain, but heat along with it is a recipe for disaster to my hair with the humidity! LOL!

Enjoy the perfume of the woodsmoke. Hope it all stays contained...and I’m sure hubby is seeing to that!
