Delay expected in preliminary hearing for former House IT aide Imran Awan

A preliminary hearing in federal court for Imran Awan, the former IT aide for a group of Congressional Democrats who was arrested and charged with bank fraud in late July, is likely to be delayed until the end of this month or early September, after Awan’s lawyers told the court of a schedule conflict.

Originally, a federal judge had set a hearing for Awan on August 21, but on Thursday, papers were filed with a federal court here that “requests that the hearing be continued and rescheduled for any time available on the Court’s calendar from August 30 to September 1, 2017.”

The filing indicated that federal prosecutors had signed off on the motion.

Awan, his wife, and two brothers had been employed by a number of Democrats in the U.S. House, doing IT and other office computer work on a shared basis, until early February, when a still undisclosed incident caused them to lose the right to access the House IT system.

While most Democrats then cut ties with the Awan family members immediately, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) continued to employ Awan and his wife on a part-time basis.

Records show Wasserman Schultz was the only lawmaker to pay Awan for the entire first quarter of 2017, paying him $1,494.45. He had been paid $5,000 per quarter by the Florida Democrat through 2016.

Awan’s wife, Hina Alvi, was paid $3,394.45 by Wasserman Schultz in the first quarter of 2016. Her pay ended in early March, when she returned to Pakistan with the couple’s children.

The charges pending against Awan deal with bank fraud, as the feds allege that he did not tell the truth about a home equity loan that he had taken out from a Capitol Hill credit union.

Federal investigators have still not made clear why Awan was stopped in late July at Dulles Airport, and charged at that point. A U.S. citizen, Awan was flying to Pakistan to see his family.

“We would like to further point out that the only accusation against our client in the criminal complaint is that he failed to disclose rental income on a tax return,” said Awan’s lawyers in a statement released in late July.

At first, Awan was released and allowed to stay with his sister – but her husband objected.

“His sister had unfortunately had not consulted her husband about the process,” court papers indicated. “Mr. Awan’s brother-in-law does not want Mr. Awan residing at his address.”

Instead, Awan has been staying with one of his brothers.

On August 2, Awan’s lawyers asked authorities to return $9,000 in cash that was seized from him at the airport; so far, no ruling has been made by the court.

Earlier this month, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Capitol Police refused to comment on the investigation, or the cash seizure.

The court has yet to rule on Awan’s request to get his money returned. Awan says he needs the cash to pay for his lawyers.

You can bet that there are quite a few powerful elected officials scrambling like hell to shut this investigation down before the entire story, including their names and their involvement with these criminals, comes out for the record.

Sean needs $9000 in cash seized at airport when he tried to skip the country?

Why not have his wife send back some of the $168,000 he defrauded from the Congressional credit union and then wired out of the country the day funds were released to him

it will be surprising if this dude lives long enough to ever make it to court, let alone see a verdict. He'll commit Arkancide first.

(HAT TIP IAMACONSERVATIVE): Imran had control of ALL of the House Dems’ Blackberrys. If the Dems were using a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) (and I’m betting they did), then Awan could easily have ITed all the SMS and Email content sent through their Blackberry’s for however long he had that access. Definitely makes Awans’ blackmailing elected members a possibility.

Not just the elected ones.

Congress’ rules on security clearances:

The details of this PDF indicate a possible reason why Robert Wexler and DWS got Awan on the payroll before early 2005: That was when the House got tougher with security by establishing the Office of House Security.

Somebody very high up in a previous admin wants the Pakis to disappear.......they know plenty.N-o-o-o-o-o names, please.

===============================================

The Pakistan govt apparently considers Imran very important b/c of his braggadocio----representations about his political power in the US, saying he's "from the Congress." The grateful Paki govt even provides Imran with a VIP police escort.

=====================================================

This is very easy to unravel. Pres Trump, AG Sessions, and SOS Rex Tillerson call in the Pakistani Ambassador for a "little chat." The Pakistani Ambassador surely knows plenty---like (a) what important issues Imran is "advising" Cong Debbie about, (b) the whereabout of Imran's wife, and, (c) the rest of the Paki IT gang.

Call President Trump: Comments: 202-456-1111 Switchboard: 202-456-1414

========================================

FACTS ON FILE

<><> About half of House Republicans have signed a letter urging we cut off all aid to Pakistan. They consider it a terrorist-sponsoring nation.

<><> T-Rex calls in the Paki Ambassador, and speaking privately, gives him one week to show up with (a) evidence on Wasserman-Schultz, and, (B) Imran's wife and the rest of the IT gang.

<><> Either that or the State Dept will weigh in----and support adding Pak to terrorist list......cutting off all foreign aid.

<><> When the Pakis cough up the evidence, and the IT gang, (as they surely would), T-Rex turns it over to Pres Trump and to the DOJ (not the FBI).

<><> The DOJ then oversees the case; the FBI is given a time-certain to provide corroborating evidence (so they can't Mafia it out). ////“Typhoid Debbie” was a pox on the DNC so they dumped her for fixing the primary for Hillary....

Debbie "electronically rerouted" donations earmarked for Bernie’s into Hillary's campaign account.

REALITY CHECK---Debbie's Paki IT staff musta helped her w/ that high-tech maneuver.

Now she’s in deep-doo in the Awan IT espionage case.

The DEMOcrat high command isn't going to like that.

Yes, I was just going to say that the Democrats need more time to figure out how to plausibly off this guy or spirit him out of the country.

Let me get this straight. If you are driving in Kansas and they find $9000.00 on you they confiscate it under asset forfeiture. Do same at international airport fleeing the country and it should be returned post haste.

“but on Thursday, papers were filed with a federal court here that “requests that the hearing be continued and rescheduled for any time available on the Court’s calendar from August 30 to September 1, 2017.”

he gave them 3 days he was available. Basically dictating terms.

How bout' charging this criminal who works for not only the pakis's ISI but most likely CIA as well with some of the dozens of crimes hes guilty of.

I wonder if they will look into the 1,000 cars he bought from Alpha Jollah's stolen high-end car ring and then resold to West Africa where they were sold all over Africa and Europe some used as mules other as bombs. This guy is part of the Awan tribe in pakiville,one of the rough tough muzzies supposedly descended from big Mo himself in the 7th century. Just more mad muzzies in hiding.

The links to and from this guy are endless. I would not want to be his life insurance carrier....of course if they get rid of Imran there are always the rest of the family who have to know at least some of what he knows.

Instead, Awan has been staying with one of his brothers.

Which brother would that be - Abid? Jamal? both were also fired! Where is the investigation into their complicity?

Further, from above:

"Awan, his wife, and two brothers had been employed by a number of Democrats in the U.S. House, doing IT and other office computer work on a shared basis, until early February, when a still undisclosed incident caused them to lose the right to access the House IT system.

Via DailyCaller 02/04/2017:

"three brothers (Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan) who managed office IT for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers were abruptly relieved of their duties on suspicion that they accessed congressional computer networks without permission.

[snip]

"Abid, Imran and Jamal have all shared a house in Lorton, Virginia, that is owned by Hina R. Alvi. Alvi is a female House IT employee who works for many of the same members as the three brothers, as well as the House Democratic Caucus.

Why aren't Abid Awan, Jamal Awan, Hina Alvi, Natalia Sova and Rao Abbas also under house arrest (assumed flight risk) during this investigation?
