Not so much ignorant as deluded as to normal human reactions and natural law. As a liberal he believes to some extent that reality is a mental construct, that if he thinks something then it is true. That concept of reality in its pure form allows the actual existence of only one mind in one person. The extant version is flawed in that the thinker, in order for his thoughts to have effect, must make everyone else think the same thing.
Reminds me of the Reagan quote “It’s not that our Democrat friends don’t know anything, it’s that so much of what they know isn’t so.”
