Women will not fall in love with a man whom they do not admire, for some quality. Some women admire athletes, other women admire wit. Others admire men who are successful in business. The common factor is that the man has "high status". A woman will not want to be with a man, if she is embarrassed to be seen with by her friends. They want an "alpha male". Just look at the romance books that women buy. The leading man is never "Joe from Accounting" (unless Joe is secretly a pirate captain on the side).
Then, there are the women who "settle". If they fail to attract an alpha, then they will settle for a beta male, but only if he has money. If she's "settled", that does not necessarily mean she won't have affairs with alphas on the side.
The term is "alpha f*cks, beta bucks".

Also, bodybuilding, being a strong man has had its share of doping obviously. It probably has a lot of good stuff too.
A favorite of mine was Joe Rollino, Coney Island strongman, World War II hero, was hit by a van a few years ago during his morning walk. He was 102 I believe.

Unfortunately, bodybuilding back in the day did have an audience in that direction. They may still. It’s almost a sub-genre I’d say.
Still, weightlifting, kettlebells, all of that, keeping in shape is fascinating stuff.

I remember my grandmother being tickled that when she sat in church with her husband, all the other ladies were remarking at how handsome he was, with what broad shoulders.
It’s not that females in older days didn’t appreciate these things; it was just all somewhat more sublimated.
The best advice to give a young man: don't marry the girl you love. Marry the girl who loves YOU. If she's really into you, then she will make an effort to keep you happy. If she just "settled" for you, then she will make continuous demands on you to make HER happy (note, this doesn't mean you shouldn't make your best effort to do things to make her happy, it means that whatever you do is unlikely to make her happy for long, if she's just not that into you).
And in today's culture, only non-whites can be Alpha Males.
