He better stay away from college campuses unless he wants to experience “liberal tolerance” up close and personal.

This is part of the effort to repair relations with The Little People, who left the Democrat ranks to vote for Trump. It will take a lot more than these few crumbs to win back the Middle Class, Tommy.

A wall is one issue but today many more are also here illegally after coming
in via a legal visa but not leaving after it has expired. Many of these are
from Asia, far east, etc.

Friedman goes on to suggest that Democrats need to acknowledge these four points. Good luck with that, Tom.
It has only taken Thomas Friedman about 20 years to articulate these points. Why would anyone think the Democrats would ever acknowledge them? Just go to Democrats Underground and post TFs talking points and see how that goes....
The democrats gave us Trump mainly because they would not acknowledge the obvious truth of these four points, along with some other obvious truths.

"We have an even bigger problem with automation wiping out middle-skilled work..."No, we have a problem with ever-louder demands for ever-higher minimum wages, which in turn leads to automation of low-skilled jobs.
Skilled jobs are increasingly being done via automation primarily because of a distinct shortage of skilled people, e.g., machinists, tool & die makers, etc.
