Reporters for NYT, WaPo Tried to Spin Lynch/Clinton Tarmac Meeting
Townhall.com ^ | August 6, 2017 | Jennifer Van Laar

It's been just a little over a year since the tarmac meeting between Bill Clinton and then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch - the one in which they merely discussed grandchildren. Shortly after the meeting, the American Center for Law and Justice submitted a FOIA request to the Comey FBI requesting any documents relating to the meeting but were told that "no documents responsive to your request were found."

What a difference a year makes.

It turns out that hundreds of pages of documents existed, and they reveal a shocking coordination between the FBI and DOJ to downplay the meeting and the efforts of journalists from the New York Times and the Washington Post to bury the story.

One email between FBI and DOJ officials two days after the meeting flags the story and contained "talkers," but the talking points themselves were redacted from the emails produced.

I want to flag a story that is gaining some traction tonight. Daily caller, The Hill and FOX News have picked up a local Phoenix news report about a casual, unscheduled meeting between former president Bill Clinton and the AG. It happened on Monday night. Our talkers on this are below, along with the transcript from the AG' s Phoenix presser, where she was asked about this. Happy to discuss further by phone. Please let me know if you get any questions about this. Thanks.

An email from Matt Zapatosky at the Washington Post asks for a few more details about the meeting because he's hoping to put the story to rest, but his "editors are still pretty interested in it." Zapatosky also, according to the ACLJ, made specific edits to his story at the request of DOJ officials to paint Lynch in a more favorable light.

A New York Times reporter, Mark Landler, emailed a DOJ official seeking information about the meeting because he had been "pressed into service to write about" the meeting.

All talking points and discussions of talking points have been redacted from the emails, and ACLJ will be returning to court in an effort to force DOJ to provide the redacted information.

I hope the follow-up effort to get the redacted talking points is successful.

I sure wish Trump would jump in and tell Sessions to quit the stonewalling on the ACLJ FOIA requests. That would shine some disinfecting sunlight on this corner of the swamp AND begin taking pressure off Russia.

The FBI lied to America about this. Also, their agents swarmed the area and illegally demanded that nobody take a photograph of the planes, them or of the area.

The FBI is a corrupt praetorian guard, always has been.

He’s a busy man, what with initiating a policy review to handle leakers, asset forfeiture, and... and... Well he’s just a busy man.

What makes you think he has time for
Tarmac meeting
Uranium One
Clinton Foundation
Clinton e-mail
Clinton pay-to-play
Clinton/Abedin
etc etc etc

The democrats know in their skrawny little pea-shaped minds that Donald J. Trump is just such a leader as will go after their criminal activity - so they are pulling out all their tricks to try and make him look stupid to the American people . . .

Except . . .

It ain’t working.

It’s gonna backfire!!!!

. . . and I believe the crooks will still be going to job or be ruined totally.

Let’s say that Hillary skates . . .

That would be okay with me as long as she signs a document along these lines . . .

“In exchange for all criminal charges against me being vacated I agree to immediately cease and desist from all further political action and involvement in any charitable organizations. I choose to retire and become a dear, sweet little grandma.”

(although she is a lot like Fish Malone in the Gotham series).

They have all they need now to show obstruction of justice between Comey, Lynch and the Clintons, including their long history of protecting Billary...

That’s why the entire text is redacted, to protect the grandchildren. And if you believe that then I have some snake oil that will cure almost all illnesses.

I’m not worried about Trump, it’s the AG.

It’s August. He should have announced the arrest of numerous leakers, named many by name, and then for a kicker concluded his remarks with a blurb about a policy review. Instead, after eight months he manages to come up with... wait for it... a policy review. What has he been doing for the past eight months? These leaks have been going on since he arrived and he’s just now deciding to take some feeble action?

These are not ordinary times and I hope he rises to the occasion. So far though he’s plodding along on the mundane. He may be a good man but he better get it in gear.

Yeah yeah. Why doesn’t he control Rosenstein who violated regulations when he authorized a special council?

I want to know why he isn’t demanding Mueller’s recusal.
