A top Environmental Protection Agency official resigned Tuesday in protest of the direction the EPA has taken under President Trump.
Elizabeth "Betsy" Southerland ended her 30-year run at the agency with a scathing exit letter in which she claimed that the environmental field is suffering from the temporary triumph of myth over truth. She last worked as the director of science and technology in the Office of Water.
The truth is there is NO war on coal, there is NO economic crisis caused by environmental protection, and climate change IS caused by mans activities, Southerland wrote, directly rejecting many of Trumps claims.
Southerland said that since EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt took over the agency, dozens of regulations designed to protect the environment had been repealed, and Trumps proposed budget cuts to the agency would devastate its ability to enforce existing protections and create new ones.
She took aim in particular at Trump's demand that two federal regulations be struck from the books for every new one added.

Shut the whole thing down.
Everyone really needs to understand Betsy’s position, in fact, I think everyone else at EPA should resign just to support Betsy! That’ll show Trump, harrumph!
No, seriously. That IS her face.
Winning; not tired of winning, thanks be to God who granted us President Donald Trump and Vice President Michael Pence in an unprecedented political upset. May the LORD guide them so that they may lead America in the way we should go as a nation to be blessed and be a blessing to the world.

After carefully weighing the pros and cons, and ascribing proper weight to each argument and counterargument, and applying reason and logic, my conclusion is “Suffer, bitch!”
Good news
So she’s resigning because she’s the one who’s lying?
Typical demonrat.
Well, at least the EPA hasn’t poisoned any rivers this summer, you government parasite.
Will someone please fire these fracks.Oh, yea, he is! MAGA
She should have been gone January 22, 2017 @ 8:03 AM!
To take the quote from “Ghostbusters” - “We’ve Got One”, is to sum up the weird mindset of Ms. Southerland.
The “War on coal” was publicly proclaimed by both Pres. Obama and Hillary Clinton, among others. Maybe Southerland didn’t read the Wash. Post that day.
Not every regulation is a good one. The original EPA laws were so badly written that it took over 20 years for a real reform to take place, often citing the Stringfellow Case as the prime example of EPA stupidity and money waste. This case helped to reform CERCLA Superfund site laws because the earlier ones were often hazy, stupid, impractical, and inefficient.
I hope that the new EPA leader will use common sense and good science to guide this agency into a more realistic and pragmatic direction, all the while working to keep our land, air and water as clean as realistically possible without bankrupting companies and costing tens of thousands, or more, workers of their livelihood.
Winning!
More winning....
.........yes and to the best of my knowledge EPA has done little to clean up their doo doo in the Animus River and they resist vigorously with their lawyers.................i.e. taxpayer paid lawyers!
I believe in some governor on developers (I are one) and individuals relative to environmental issues. Hell, developers would pave over Yellowstone if you let them. But, all Federal regulation must end with their much curtailed regulatory authority given back to the states. And, their SWAT teams disbanded!
Good riddance to the silly old hag.
-—Prove it——
Proof is not required. Global warming is in the realm of settled science. /s
Because we say so!!! In CAPS!! ROFLMAO.
Obama repeatedly promised to bankrupt the coal industry. Exactly how is that not a war for survival for those people and those jobs? There's a reason that WV went GOP for the first time in decades.
