President Trump may be facing a roadblock on the rest of his nominees but hes outpacing his predecessors when it comes to getting federal judges confirmed after his fifth court pick was approved by the Senate on Tuesday.
Alabama lawyer Kevin Christopher Newsom was confirmed to a seat on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on a 66-31 vote, with 16 Democrats joining the GOP. Hes the third circuit judge approved so far, and combined with one district judge and Supreme Court Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, it puts the president and the GOP-led Senate well ahead of pace.
By comparison, President Obama had zero judges confirmed in his first six months in office and it took him until November of 2009 to get three circuit court nominees cleared through the Senate.

winning!
Go, Trump!!
Legacy!
Keep going, President Trump!!!!!!
I found this interesting:
“...Newsoms views on substantive due process put him at odds with current Supreme Court caselawwhich obviously recognizes the existence of substantive-due-process doctrinebut it does not place him out of the conservative mainstream, which has long challenged Roe in particular and substantive due process more generally. Notably, his potential future colleague on the Eleventh Circuitshould Newsom be confirmedis Judge William Pryor, who called Roe the worst abomination in the history of constitutional law.[42] (Judge Pryor was initially filibustered by Senate Democrats and was installed as a circuit-court judge by President George W. Bush through a recess appointment.[43]) Newsons apparent wholesale rejection of substantive due process is also shared by at least one member of the current U.S. Supreme CourtJustice Clarence Thomas. Justice Thomas was confirmed in 1991 by a narrow margin and in a confirmation environment that was much more forgiving than todays. Given the change in environment and Justice Thomass willingness to overturn otherwise settled law in a variety of areas in an appropriate case[44]including in the area of substantive due process[45]it is not clear that he could be reconfirmed today. What this means with someone of Newsoms specific views on substantive due process is unclear, but given that Newsom is not being nominated for the Supreme Court but for Eleventh Circuit, he would not be in a positionfor the moment, at leastto overturn Supreme Court caselaw in that or in any other area.”

Substantive due process was ridiculed by Antonin Scalia.
Conservative jurist associations had their picks lined up and ready for any incoming republican president.
Wish other republican interest groups like taxes and healthcare had been as prepared for an incoming republican president.
The goal should be to neutralize the 329 Obama-nominated federal judges who were confirmed by the United States Senate. 121 Obama federal judges were confirmed unanimously, 38 were confirmed by unanimous consent, 65 were confirmed on a voice vote. That’s 224 Obama federal judges who were unchallenged and 105 who were challenged.
6 Obama nominees were rejected via Republican filibusters of their nominations. Obama withdrew all six nominations and in all six instances Obama nominated a different judge who was then confirmed.
No Obama judge has been impeached.
Now, if only Ruth Buzzy would oblige this country and die quickly! Or Kennedy decide to “retire,” or Stephen Breyer would decide to hang it up, a lot of way way overdue rulings for the people could take place.
I hope I live to see the day when the “Wise Latrina” and the “Fat Yenta” are what’s left of the LIberal “wing” of the Court.
Hmm.. 16 is a lot of Rats. I am at the point where any confirmation that gets more then the 10 Red state rats is suspect.
Well, we should start with the guy in Hawaii, the one in Oakland, and lastly the one in Seattle.
Kennedy is almost sure to go next year. Unfortunately he is staying for one more session. He is a total liberal on social issues along with Roberts and there are some big ones coming up.
Great news!!!
President Trump boldly taking action to stem the tide of judges usurping unconstitutional authority and legislating from the bench.
Also wonderful that Mitch McConnell is actually accomplishing significant progress in helping President Trump shape the judiciary for generations to come.
Now, it would be awesome if Kennedy, Breyer or RBG decided to hang up their robe(s)!!!
“Substantive due process was ridiculed by Antonin Scalia.”
Sounds then like Newsom is in “good company” (well, you know what I mean).
“Substantive due process” is an unconstitutional fiction concocted by liberals to allow them to fabricate any legal doctrines that please them.
It is one of the core features of judge-made law.
Good but still not that many
“Kennedy is almost sure to go next year. Unfortunately he is staying for one more session.”
Well then, I guess we have to hope that Satan “calls Ruth home” now don’t we!
It seems that everyone is so caught up in palace-intrigue stories and fake collusion stories that they don’t notice the real substantive things happening, without all the usual hullabaloo.
Nice to hear good news. Keep going!
