Cmdr. Lionel Crabb RN may have died while “inspecting” a Soviet cruiser in Portsmouth Harbor in 1956. A colorful gent, whether he was murdered, became prisoner and subsequent defector, Crabb’s fate remains a Cold War mystery. Neither side ever owned up to his fate.
