A "beloved local hip hop" artist was robbed of his $89,000 Red camera while making an anti-GOP music video in West Oakland. (Side note: This is the fourth known armed hold up of an Oakland film crew this month.) To illustrate the theme of "lack of opportunity," his actors were wearing Trump, Reagan, Nixon, and Lincoln masks. Sadly, all of the video was lost.
No description of the criminals has been released. However, given the subject matter of the video, I suspect pro-Trump perpetrators are likely involved. There is a GoFundMe link if you want to help out.

The San Fransicko east Bay Area has a long history of street thugs robbing television or movie cameras — it’s pretty obvious this is an organized crime pattern based in ( where else?) Oakland/Bezerkeley. But what I don’t understand is how the criminals can then sell such expensive and specialized equipment. Methinks they must be working with one of the very few companies that retail such gear to the television and movie industries, or? They can’t make much selling it at your local flea market

Two camera crews came on scene and they were BOTH robbed in this same way, all their gear gone in a poof.
First the Mexican shooter, and then the...URBAN gentlemen robbers 15 min later.

There was a manhunt and a local station had their camera set up on the perimeter of a grocery store parking lot with no one at the camera and no one at the station’s SUV.
They left the camera to go into the store. Had to be 50 yards away at least.
I’ve read previously that a major market for stolen high-end cameras and video equipment (especially targeting TV station minicams) is the porn industry.
As with firearms, you know you’re getting serious when the glass is worth more than the object the glass is attached to.
I’m sure pro-Trump peeps would a) go to that part of Oakland and b) know when and where the filming was scheduled. What an imbecilic thing to write.
High-end equipment has been stolen from crews a lot the past decade, particularly from news crews. Another such robbery occurred in Oakland in the past week or two.
I understand most of it winds up in the porn “industry” which has lot spent of Trump supporters (LOL - right!).
Porn — no questions asked when you show up hawking a $90k camera.
