See the winding bands?

Filament wrapping is stronger and MUCH lighter than conventional paneling. As a result, a much greater total % of the missile weight can be devoted to fuel, resulting in much greater range.

A key measure of missile tech is if the maker can master this production technique.

Until very recently this filament wrapping was considered beyond DPRK capabilities.

To be sure, their Chinese supplier of missile carrier vehicles also provide the missile segments, electronics etc. Very doubtful that the mfg. capability of this cheese snorting butterballs factories, technicians and scientists or supply chain can come up with even 10% of a completed system themselves.

I think it’s still beyond it. The Chinese or the Russians are helping them.
