Full title.......................Chuck Grassley warns Judiciary Committee won't consider replacement for Jeff Sessions this year if Trump fires him.................Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, strongly suggested on Wednesday night that he would not allow his panel to consider confirming a replacement this year for Attorney General Jeff Sessions if President Trump were to fire him.

"Everybody in D.C. [should be] warned that the agenda for the judiciary [committee] is set for rest of 2017," Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote on Twitter. "Judges first subcabinet 2nd / AG no way," he added, with "AG" referring to attorney general.

“Good for Chuck.”

BS!!

This guy is self-important and does not control the agenda of the Senate, much less the entire nation.

He showed himself to be an arrogant idiot.

When I read this I did not interpret it the way a lot of folks here did.

President Trump is effectively building a wall of protection around Sessions -- on both sides of the aisle.

“No one more conservative than Loretta Lynch would ever be confirmed.”

BS.

Republicans will confirm anyone Trump would nominate.

Can I let you all in on a little secret? Trump is trying to light a fire under his AG butt. He’s not going to fire the guy. If he resigns, he might even accept it, but this whole thing is the style, Trump has had through out. He’s transparent. He tells the people how he feels.

For the most part, I’m uneasy about making Sessions look bad, but Sessions strikes me as a Milque Toast who has never worked for someone like Trump who has big shoulders.

Sessions has really only two choices. To do his job to please his boss, or to quit. Trump is giving him the chance to do his job.

I predict, as soon as Sessions shows that’s he up to the challenge, and grows some teeth, Trump will praise the heck out of him in public.

Trump voters need to start blitzing these republican idiots that keep trying to tie Trump’s hands to protect their corrupt uniparty system.

We need to also blitz vulnerable democrats in the next election.

Time for the people to be heard.

Keep them in session until they vote on all of the president’s appointments.

Would this be true if Sessions were to suddenly die?

Beg to differ.
Senator Grassley is possibly the most sincere, hard working politician in DC.

He certainly was in the Iowa Statehouse.

“Rosenstein can’t make things any worse than they are now.”

Must disagree. Rosenstein is neck deep in this coup. He gave Mueller a blank check and no restrictions, way beyond what would be appropriate. Yet he limited the election tampering investigation look at Trump and only Trump despite the suspicious BS going with the Rats and Obongo. He picked Mueller, Comey’s BFF. No Roesenstein must go and I say he should go first. Except it’s an Obongo holdover the next 2 steps down.

None of this would be happening if Jeff Sessions was still alive.

You're by far the most polite and articulate of those explaining the situation. I respect your view. I'll also add to that I don't think that AG Sessions is the weak "aw shucks" guy his first impression creates.

But I'll stand by my view. AG Sessions is accomplishing things. He knows the law and he knows the US Senate. Nothing is gained by alienating conservative US Senators and Deplorables, many of whom wish it were Sessions who had the temperament to become US President.

I really don't understand how this can even be discussed. One can only think that swampthings have real hope this happens.

I agree. Sessions is by far Trump’s best appointment. He must stay.

Watch his Recusal statement, he was holding back Crying. What a strong man. He met a Russian Ambassador in a DC ‘Meet & greet’ and that for some insane reason calls for his “Recusal”. He chickened out to Democrat/Media demands.

We don’t need any investigations and prosecutions of the Deep State.

It’s more important to protect a senator who got his feelings hurt.

heights, you've been a member since 2006 and haven't created an "about" page. So I have no idea where you're coming from.

AG Sessions didn't "chicken out". I'm thinking he understood that if he didn't recuse himself, the coup would keep him busy 24/7 with "Russia, Russia, Russia". If that had happened he couldn't get busy with priorities such as stopping and reversing the invasion of the US. I'm sure those of you who don't agree have gotten the message. It's not acceptable to a lot of us Deplorables to have a Trump presidency without AG Sessions.
