The Duke of Cambridge has described how "there are things that cannot be unseen" as he carries out his final shift as an air ambulance pilot.
Paying a personal tribute to the nation's emergency services, Prince William spoke of his "profound respect" for its men and women who deal with experiences "on a daily basis that they will carry with them for life".
The Duke joined the East Anglian Air Ambulance service in March 2015, after serving for nearly five years as a helicopter pilot with the RAF's Search and Rescue Force, and began piloting his first operational missions in July that year. He might have a mild clue as to what dust off crews in Vietnam dealt with.
The trash that happened has been talked about over and over. Her sons wanted a tribute that was about the good things and not about trash. It was a tribute and not an expose.
They've done their duty and they've done it well - but they are hardly the only Royals to do so.
Prince Andrew, Duke of York, served over twenty years as a career officer of the Royal Navy (1979-2001) including combat service as a junior officer in the Falklands, and considerable peacetime service as a Naval helicopter pilot.
The Prince of Wales had a similar amount of military service to the Duke of Cambridge - five years from 1971 until 1976.
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, served in the British Army from 1955 until 1976 finishing his regular service as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Prince Michael of Kent did 20 years in the British Army from 1961 until 1981, finishing as a Major.
It's not uncommon for male members of the Royal family to serve in the military. The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry have done so, but there's no reason that the service of the others should be ignored.
