WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump is getting a bitter Washington lesson when he messes with Jeff Sessions you don't pick a fight with one of the Senate's guys.
It's a lesson that could cost him politically in a Senate where he badly needs Republican support for his lengthy agenda, starting with healthcare on Tuesday.
"I dont understand it. Theres no more honorable person Ive ever met in my life than Jeff Sessions, said Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., a close friend of Sessions and his wife. The only person who is more upset with Trump about this than me, is my wife.
Sessions spent 20 years in the Senate, winning a reputation for affability and party loyalty. He understood and doggedly practiced the code of what's been called the world's most exclusive club: You can disagree without being disagreeable, but you protect the institution and its members.
Trump, clearly, doesnt play by those rules.

When Herman Cain withdrew from the Presidential race in 2012, he publicly stated that the lives of his grandchildren were threatened.
What many of us didn’t realize at the time was, who the Deep State was, and to what lengths they would go.
This makes me begin to wonder if Sessions got that same “warning” even before he became AG.
The Republicrats want Sessions in place (doing next to nothing to defend the President), so that their friends the Democrats can impeach Trump..............
It is hard to understand how Jess Sessions could roll over so easily without understanding that he was empowering Trump’s enemies.....(unless the fix was in by the neverTrump GOPe globalists)
I wasn’t sure I liked him doing that to Sessions either but now that I know it’s upsetting the Senators I fully support him. Well done Mr. President, you’re over the target
The Do Nothings protecting a Do Nothing.
Shocking.
F*ck the GOP.
That’s what I have long thought. But Sessions isn’t stupid and the fact he hasn’t acted to date seems strange. Why wait for more evidence. We’ve been told so many times it’s a slam dunk. So some junior guy or gal should be able to make a move. But then again, maybe it isn’t the slam dunk we’ve been told it is.
...walker.
Sessions has moved in a number of areas that make sense to the base. Trump seems to lash out when he is being backed in a corner. Remember shortly after the election he was saying the Clinton charity actually had done some good things and that prosecuting her wasn’t really on his radar. And now suddenly it is? Or at least saying the words to energize the base? If Trump made a bad choice on Sessions, that’s really on him.
It may be more productive for Trump to focus his assistance on getting rid of those key people we don’t need in the Senate than on those running to replace them. And the state parties have GOT to do a better job of putting up candidates who are not idiots with an R behind their name. There’s no excuse for Lisa Murkowski winning re-election other than the simple truth that her challenger was perceived a worse.
The only reason the Republican Senators are complaining about Trump is because he isn’t for THEIR agenda, he is for America’s agenda!
Unfortunately, the more I see these bass-turds not trying to fix all the problems in America’s government, the more I know they all want to be in on the CONTROL!
Most of the Republicans in Congress have taken on the DemonRat thought process: you don’t control people like THAT, let me show you how to exercise proper control of the American people!
Executive Orders and recess appointments, Mr. President.
These affable fellows have a lot of gall. They are targeting the family of the POTUS. They. The whole Congress. No one is bothered by this? Is Jeff Sessions bothered by this?
Not necessarily. When you are hired for a job, does the boss have to actually come right out and ask you if you are going to be loyal to him? Trump hired Sessions after evaluating many others, and then Sessions recusal looked to most every one of us like a betrayal. Maybe it was the ethical high ground, and I do believe that Sessions is a very ethical man, but it also had to feel like a terrible act of disloyalty to the guy who had just chosen him above all others.
Let's be clear on this. The Republicans in Congress have an agenda and do not care at all what Trump's agenda is. If his agenda happens to coincide with Congress's, well and good. He'll get his stuff passed. But if they don't then nothing Trump can do will get them voted on. Congress's expectations are that they'll pass what they want and Trump will sign it. So Trump can fire Sessions, can Mueller, and the Republicans in Congress may murmur in disapproval but it's not going to change what they vote on.
Sessions can show allegiance to his President by getting up on his hind legs and fighting like a man....
.... appoint a second special prosecutor to investigate Seth Richs death & the DNC server,....it could be broadened to include Clinton fundraising crimes, unmasking for political espionage purposes, the Lynch/Clinton Obstruction of Justice, leaking of classified info out of the Deep State, Mueller & Comeys ties to the DNC....turn the FBI lose on real criminality....
Am I mistaken or didn’t Sessions have the hardest time in the confirmation process in the Senate? Now all of a sudden they love him again?
Having said that, what Trump is doing by going on Twitter to take jabs at Sessions and complain about his performance is so incredibly childish and un-Presidential it’s embarrassing. He chose him as AG. If he’s not happy with his job performance he should act like a man and call him into the Oval Office and tell him to his face instead of doing it on Twitter like a passive-aggressive, petulant child.
We just had one of those for 8 years.
Inhofe is 81 and he’s been in the Senate for 21 years. From my perspective, he’s another one who needs replacement. I’ve had it “up to here” with all this “collegiality” bull$hit in the Senate. If I were able to rewrite the Constitution, I’d give serious consideration to “leaving the Senate out!” At least as it’s currently set up.
So, Sessions is a “principled” man who can’t actually do his work.
Fire his butt.
Two mature adults ought to be able to meet and work in private to reach a solution.
Publically discrediting a loyal, dedicated and honorable man is disgusting.
Left up to myself, While this pact of wimps are on vacation in August I would change the locks on the Senate building, throw all the furniture out in the street and burn it, call the Treasury department and have their names erased from the federal payroll and finally, just for kicks put their names on the “Do not fly” list.
Disgusted is what I feel.
