Personnel records out for Minnesota officer who shot woman

The records show Officer Mohamed Noor was hired as a cadet in March 2015. In September of that year, he received a letter saying he passed his Peace Officer Licensing Examination and was eligible to become a licensed, sworn officer.

Noor is on paid leave after he killed Justine Damond, a 40-year-old spiritual teacher who was engaged to be married, on July 15 after she called 911 twice to report a possible rape.

Noor, who was in the passenger seat of a squad car, shot across his partner in the driver's seat and hit Damond. His partner told authorities that he was startled by a loud noise shortly before Damond appeared at the police vehicle.

State authorities are investigating potential criminal charges. Noor also faces an internal use of force investigation.

Noor was one of several Somali-Americans hired by the department in recent years as part of the city's public effort to diversify so it better reflects the city.

Some people have no business being police officers. This one should be somewhere he can’t hurt anyone.

I wonder if “aspiring to be a pirate” is considered a good career choice.

The Stranger within my gate,
He may be true or kind,
But he does not talk my talk–
I cannot feel his mind.
I see the face and the eyes and the mouth,
But not the soul behind.

The men of my own stock,
They may do ill or well,
But they tell the lies I am wanted to,
They are used to the lies I tell;
And we do not need interpreters
When we go to buy or sell.

The Stranger within my gates,
He may be evil or good,
But I cannot tell what powers control–
What reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
Shall repossess his blood.

The men of my own stock,
Bitter bad they may be,
But, at least, they hear the things I hear,
And see the things I see;
And whatever I think of them and their likes
They think of the likes of me.

This was my father’s belief
And this is also mine:
Let the corn be all one sheaf–
And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children’s teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

– Rudyard Kipling

I have a theory on this cop’s reason for shooting this woman. She was in her pajamas, and I think the Muslim took offense to that and shot her.

If you really think about it, murder is the only thing which makes sense.

Nothing else at all.

Kipling was a very wise man... One of my most favorite of his is “the gods of the copybook headings”

What exactly, is a ‘spiritual teacher’? That is what Ms. Damond is called, in the article.

I believe that she was a yoga instructor, so she must also have taught the spiritual side of it. So unfortunately, she’ll meet her killer once again in eternity though on a different level of hell than he, most likely. How very sad for all concerned.

Strange that it didn't end in an @ss whuppin'. I suspect the surprise and the casualty probably took precedence. You'd figure that there'd be some physical counseling for sounds and flash trauma in a closed space afterward.

Such a bogus reason to hire someone. Hell, these cops are barely being trained at all.

I memorized The Gods of the Copybook Headings when I was in fifth grade. I can still recite most of it. For being written 100 years ago, it was quite prescient!

He shot across his Fellow officer and endangered his life, as well.
What policeman with experience would do that?
