Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee, praised the health care systems of Cuba and Russia in comparison to the United States at a rally on Monday.
“Why is it that countries like Cuba or Canada or Russia or a lot of places in this world spend half of what we spend per-capita and they got better health outcomes than we do?” Ellison asked.
The deputy DNC chair said that the American health care system is designed to help corporations profits instead of improve Americans’ health.
According to the CIA Factbook, the United States (42nd) ranks in front of both Cuba (55th) and Russia (153rd) in terms of life expectancy. Americans can expect to live nine more years on average than Russians and over one more year than Cubans.

Why is it that the supporters of Socialized Medicine don’t realize that they are not going to get all the care they need, when the Government dispenses the care? The Government decides if your life is worth the care you need and if it should spend it’s (taxpayers) money to help you. You are at the mercy of it’s ‘panels’ and the older you get, the less your life is worth to the Government. I really think that those who want this should have to experience what Socialized Medicine is really like before they totally destroy our country’s health care system. Obamacare has gone a long way toward that destruction. I pray that we can get back good health care AND autonomy in our own personal health care choices.
No collusion there I tell you!

The fact that anyone in the public domain can be that stupid, and get away with it, is stunning. What country does he go to when he needs psychiatric treatment?

My father is retired, in his 80’s, in great health for his age and has been on Medicare for a long time. My mother was on Medicaid and Medicare before she passed from Alzheimer’s in a long term facility, paid for by the government, mostly.
There were complaints, of course, but I complain about my insurance company more than my father complains about Medicare. My father being a retired minister could never have afforded the long term care my mother eventually needed. I’m grateful that those programs were available for my parents.

Note: The results that the Russians are bragging about are HORRIBLE. The Swiss (with a completely PRIVATE health care system) live 83.4 years.

Long term care is not part of Socialized Medicine either. My F-i-L, in the UK, should have been in long term care for the last year of his life. Long term care is exponentially more expensive there than in this country. My S-i-L helped keep him in his home for as long as possible. He wasn’t in the care home long before he passed away. I hope people are aware that Nursing Homes are not paid for by the NHS.

Unfortunately, we need to take a bunch of seats away from the GOPe or taking more RAT seats won’t do us any good. We have a situation in our GOPe-run Congress today where the “repubicans” are trying harder than the RATs to undo the voters choice for our president. And thanks to those who voted for these traitors, they may end up being successful.
So is that what the hold up is with john mclame? Waiting for cuban and russian input before treatment? Havana ain’t that far so maybe he could go there for treatment.

Your good story is another example of well MediCare has worked for older Americans, who paid into the program.
My wife and I are in our late 70’s and thanks to our good private MDs and Medicare are in good health inspite of some severe temporary/acute problems resolved by our so called terrible health care.
Our many Brothers, Sisters, In Laws, Cousins in their 70’s/80’s are more living examples of how good American health care has been with private MDs and MediCare.
Whenever, we read how bad our health care is!
We need to ask ourselves, “Why do the super rich elites from the Middle East, Euro Trash Countries, the UK/Canada/NZ and OZ, and South America fly to America for the best health care they can afford?
If our health care was so bad, wouldn’t these elites would fly to Cuba, Russia, the Euro Trash countries and the UK groups.
Who in America goes to Cuba, Russia, Canada, Britain, NZ or OZ for their great health care?
