So, all those states who went for Trump are eager to see recreational marijuana legalized,or at least little or no enforcement of existing laws concerning marijuana? You might be the one who is out of touch.
I'm not sure what I think of of these issues that are being reviewed by the Task Force, but I am surprised at some of the reactions here.
Trump said during the campaign that it should be an issue for the states; and 60% of Americans favor legalization.
My home state of Florida delivered for Trump, and also passed medical marijuana. I'm not out of touch. Senator Jeff Sessions is, and has provided evidence for that fact on several points.
How about his call for increased use of Civil Asset Forfeiture, a practice that is already seeing widespread abuse?
How about the fact that he recused immediately himself from the Russia investigation—hamstringing his own President without even consulting him?
How's that for starters?
No, I'm not the one who's out of touch. AG Sessions is, and is appearing off more and more like a tin-eared dinosaur—one whose President clearly wants to resign.
I have been a huge fan of Sessions up until his recusal. I wish it weren't true, but the Attorney General's focus is increasingly misplaced.
I no longer believe he's the right man for this job at this time, and gratuitously authoritarian policies such as this one, and the others—against the backdrop of a clear trend to the contrary in the several States, which is where these decisions belong, by the way, if one understands federalism—carry a bona fide risk of alienating non-trivial portions of the President's base.
