It is not the fact that he merely had a criminal record. It is the fact that his criminal record revolved around physically battering people.
Yeah, yeah, you make it clear that you can't perceive that there might conceivably be a difference between assaulting people and being a prostitute or a shoplifter. You probably didn't grow up with violence that left you with physical consequences the rest of your life, so all of this is merely academic to you.
But Money Dunn's violence did affect the people around him, who didn't get to live your charmed life. ..because he took that option away from them.
