“We're in this room today to deliver on our promise to the American people to repeal Obamacare and to ensure that they have the health care that they need,” President Trump told Republican senators at a White House luncheon on Wednesday.
“We have no choice. We have to repeal and replace Obamacare.”
Trump said Republicans are “so close” to getting the job done, even without a single vote from Democrats:
"The way I looked at it, we have no Democrat help. They're obstructionists. That's all they're good at is obstruction. They have no ideas. They've gone so far left, they're looking for single-payer, that's what they want."
"But single-payer will bankrupt our country, because it's more than we take in for just health care. So single-payer is never going to work, but that's what they'd like to do. They have no idea what the consequence will be, and it will be horrible, horrible health care, where you'll wait on line for weeks to even see a doctor."

I’d personally rather hear how it’s not an authorized function of govt., antithesis to our Constitution and our Republic. People wish Socialism, there’s plenty of countries for them to choose to live; there’s no one stopping ‘em from writing a check

The difference between the left and the center and center right now is every bit as profound as the difference between the north and south before the civil war. My best friend from college is a prime example. I love the guy, but his view of the world is so different from what I see as reality, that it has led to a divide between us. We, as a nation, are in trouble. Big trouble.
Single payer is communism/socialism, and it is not the answer. Not even close. It will not decrease costs, but only alter where the money goes. The money will go to an ever growing government bureaucracy, and medicine, as a profession, will dwindle. I wish I were wrong, but I’m not.
And....the power to play God over our health. That is terrifying.

It’s so FUBAR. At least for the patient. I don’t even know about the economics involved.

In effect my insurance is catastrophic only. That’s because I only use natural medicine, dietary, alternative, chiro etc...almost none of which is covered by health insurance. So I pay everything out of pocket, and my alternative MD does not accept insurance.
That’s the way it should be, IMHO.

Yes I was thinking today when they gave the large number of uninsured that would result from repeal according to the OMB that they should be forced to make projections on how many insured would perish, receive poor service from single payer.
And the OMB figures are screwy anyway.
There needs to be an advocate for limited government. The lowest common denominator in politics is to throw someone else’s money at people who refuse to take personal responsibility. Why is it that I basically see Democrat talking points on healthcare when I read your posts in this thread? Even when you talk about punishing the person who chooses to stuff 5 hoho’s in their mouth every day, a conservative would say that we should not be penalizing the person who does NOT eat the 5 hohos.
Nobody is arguing that someone should be left to die if they are poor. But the government has zero role to play. The role of charity belongs to the family and private organizations.
Pretty much the way I live my life too.
I doubt that I'll ever understand why people keep having to go to doctors and get prescriptions all the time. I just know they do.
