Yup, McCain's glioblastoma is totally unrelated to his melanomas. Had it been the latter he might have had a chance with meds like Jimmy Carter has taken for melanoma spread to the brain. But those drugs don't work for this.

Ted Kennedy lasted 15 months, but cast few votes over most of that time. He just kept his staff around as a resource for his party. But Obama had a big enough majority in both houses that Kennedy's vote was rarely needed (and if necessary Maverick would cross the aisle to provide an extra vote.) Trump doesn't have that luxury. The GOP has a tiny majority and all the potential mavericks start on its side. The patriotic thing for Captain McCain to do is to turn his vote over to another Republican, but fly PR top cover outside of office on the media as much as he's able. Trump can make up some suitable title for that role. And when he's not needed there he can spend time with his mom. They can compete to see who's stubbornness holds on to life the longest.

He's not going to recover.

The diagnosis is terminal....

I've never liked the guy..but wish him a peaceful and painless passage....

"Waiting for Gov. Sarah Palin’s official comments."

She'll be gracious no doubt. That poor woman and her family put up with so much crap over the years, and still does. I hope she wins big against the NY Slimes.

The pampered playboy, life long democrat, and pal of putin’s has cut a deal to save Assad.

I see your account has already been suspended (thanks, Jim), but I've just got to ask; why in the hell have you continued to hang out at Free Republic, when you hate our President so much?

Don't you know that FR is Trump country? Geeez...

That’s for all of the patient population, but for 80 yr olds the survival rate beyond 12-18 months is probably very very low. This is the worst type of brain cancer, truly awful and highly aggressive. He faces a very bleak prognosis.

Sounds like total Leftard b.s. What kind of “help” with an aggressive fatal cancer was any US Senator supposed to provide? And why on earth would he tell them to move? I smell b.s.

DU is wishing him well.

Not surprising, given McCain's record of opposing his own party, and stabbing President Trump in the back.

I have a comment, for which I will probably draw flak but I won’t regret saying it.

I despise McCain with a purple passion, though I would not wish this horrid disease on anyone, and if I had the power I would stop this affliction, even for McCain. McCain and Kerry pushed like the devil to close the books on the POW/MIAs, abandoning more than 500 to my knowledge. I wonder how much McCain gained by “normalizing trade relations” with Vietnam? At the expense of the lives of many good men. When Reginald Cleve comes home I will pray for McCain’s recovery. Until then I’ll pray that he has a good long face-to-face heart-to-heart meeting with all those he abandoned. Until then, John, it’s been real...unfortunately.

the tumor may explain his irrational and extreme behavior over the past year.

"Trust me, he isn’t going to beat this."

He might. They caught it very early, and got it all out.

Per all of the medical industry citations that have been posted on this thread tonight, it's not possible to surgically remove "all" of this type of cancer.

Even with the very best follow-up treatments available, McCain probably doesn't have more than two years left - and that's being extremely generous.

He really needs to face the hard truth that his days are numbered, and do what most people do in similar circumstances.

And to think this man actually was the GOP nominee for President of this country.

I remember being completely incredulous when McCain won the GOP nomination in 2008. He wasn't my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or even 5th choice. That's what little regard I held for him, even then.

I probably wouldn't have even bothered voting in the general, except for his choice of Governor Palin as his running mate.

We are all going to die. For most of us, it is not going to be pleasant. So for at least now, I would like to enjoy my pending retirement a bit before I have cancer or worse, and McCain has been a thorn messing up my future and he is a NeverTrump ass so I don’t like him.

Yes, I suppose if I were standing in front of him or his daughter etc I would of course give the obligatory “I pray for you” and “pray you recover” etc and sure, even I who hates McCain would feel really bad for McCain.

But since I am not standing in front of him or his family, it is a news item to me and not some earth shattering moment in history other than I hope a real conservative takes his seat ASAP. I only care beyond that not very much. I thank God it is not President D J Trump.

My 33 year old daughter is a proud pro-life, real marriage supporting Trump supporter. It’s all how you raise a kid, I’m a real God-fearing conservative. John McCain is as liberal as any democrat in Washington and I guarantee you his trophy wife is a liberal.

Is this the same cancer as Ted Kennedy had ?

Believe so and also Carter. Must be the slimey water in the Swamp that does it when you drink your own urine for 30+ years
