On Borrowed Time (1939)

Grandpa is twisting an apple stem and gets a wish. Because kids are stealing apples from his tree, he wishes anyone that was already in the tree would have to stay there until he says they can leave. The apple stealing kids are suitably horrified when they are stuck in the tree and vow never to do it again. He says they can go - and they can.

Later, Death comes for Grandpa but the tricksy elder asks for an apple from the tree before he goes. Death agrees and....

Capito and Collins want more people on Medicaid. Paul and Lee want full repeal.

What is the deal you can cut to get them on the same page?

Actually, you can probably repeal Obamacare tomorrow if you raised the income requirements for Medicaid by 30 percent and created an option for people unable to obtain coverage due to a pre-existing condition to join a Medicaid plan.

At the same time, that’s a giant leap forward towards single payer, and I don’t have the first freaking clue how you pay for it.

I mean, it’s the least conservative idea imaginable.

But promising that everyone will be covered and premiums will be lower is a terribly unconservative position too.

I think we are sort of beyond conservatism at this point with healthcare. People want everything covered and they don’t want to pay for it.

“Please don’t throw me in the briar patch” - br’er Rabbit.

Once the Senate goes into Recess, Trump can appoint several hundred people to positions in his administration, and the Democrat party can’t stop this. It would require the cooperation of Senator McConnell, since he could do a recess without it being a constitutional recess.

The only effective strategy of the Democrat party so far has been to insist on 30 hours of debate for each nomination. The Recess appointments can demolish this strategy. Watch for the Schumer to try to force the Senate into not going into Recess.

"They got their healthcare. Plus they deserve their recess. Don’t people realize how hard and exhausting it is to sit around and do nothing all day long while inexplicably becoming a multimillionaire on a government salary?"

We need a "take your congressman to work day" so that representative can experience what goes into paying their salary as well as see how much it costs to make earning it possible.

An inquiring mind - just plain old nosy - wants to know....
Junkets; once part-and-parcel to Congress taking an August recess, Congressional delegation trips (CODEL)haven’t received much publicity especially this year.
A favorite of spouses, children, favored supporters and lovers, is it my imagination that junkets have ceased or have they simply become more camouflaged.

Force the democrats to come up with a viable option. Make them get off their do nothing asses

I know I won't want anything the democrats cook up, and it won't be viable.

“Capito and Collins want more people on Medicaid. Paul and Lee want full repeal”

Let me guess who of these 4 will be publicly called out by McConnell (and probably DJT) and the media when “repeal and replace” fails to get the votes.

Yesterday’s tweet by DJT was too good to be true “Republicans should just REPEAL failing ObamaCare now & work on a new Healthcare Plan that will start from a clean slate.”

Well I wouldn’t either. Make them look like fools. Instead, the republicans are looking like the fools.

Demos gave us obamacare. Make them come up with an agreeable solution. Otherwise, the repubs will be the bad guys and demos will regain congress.

Of course, we also have to remember the GOP “do nothing asses.” They passed a bill many times to repeal Obamacare, but knew it wouldn’t get past the Obama veto. So they did nothing, and when Trump miraculously won, they had nothing.
So suffer, enjoy the DC August weather, and by the way make sure you have the same basic insurance as everyone else. If you want supplements, you have a large enough salary to pay for the extras.
