This is one of a number of times I've seen the phrase virtue signaling used here on freerepublic. I'm tired of it already. It's nothing but a PC construct devised to limit the speech...
Actually, it is a term used to call out political correctness. Virtue signalling is when someone does or says something solely for the purpose of demonstrating to everyone else how politically correct they are. Given that PC, by its very design, is anti-free speech, it is fascinating that you would equate calling out PC with being PC.
Also, free speech goes both ways. Someone is free to spew some virtue-signalling BS, and then someone else is free to call it virtue-signalling. If you really value free speech, you don't try to block just one part of the equation. Your comment shows that either you don't understand what's going on in this PC world, or you are being deliberately disingenuous.
