If you are trying to attract a % of the lowest common denominator voter, the ones that turn out based on things like skin color, then it is a good move. Just look at the margin of victory in the states that flipped for Trump, then look at the difference in minority turnout between Obama and Clinton in those states. They would have to be nuts not to run a minority.

But I’m not sure minorities turn out for a woman like they would a man.

At least the DNC is saving time and money by not wasting it on a primary with a predetermined outcome. That is progress.
