Psychiatry professors call on Congress to ‘end the Trump presidency’ (Univ. Quacks)
The Washington Times ^ | July 14, 2017 | Jessica Chasmar

Psychiatry professors from several Ivy League universities who argue Donald Trump is unfit for the presidency are calling on Congress to take “lawful steps” to remove him from office.

The professors’ letter to Congress, published by The Huffington Post, says the president’s supposed mental “unraveling” is hurting his ability to govern.

Perhaps the professors are just projecting their own advanced Trump Derangement Syndrome, soon to have its own DSM-IV category. Their "diagnosis" seems pretty unusual for psychiatrists, since it doesn't correspond to any DSM-IV categories:

"The signs of the president’s unraveling are stark, and they are contributing to his inability to govern: his failure to guard against hacking of our elections and related threats to national security, his decimation of the State Department and other vital government agencies, his irrational, unilateral withdrawal from the world’s commitment to prevent catastrophic climate change, his intemperate exploitation of the presidency to enrich himself and his family, his unremitting threats against a free press, his vitriolic verbal assaults against anyone (especially any woman) who questions his actions or state of mind, and his imposition of false narratives whenever the truth casts him in a bad light."

I'm still trying to figure out how President Trump was supposed to "guard against hacking of our elections and related threats to national security" before he was elected. Wouldn't that have been President Obama's job? Apparently for these psychiatrists a new form of mental illness is being unable to control the actions of someone else in the past. That looks like a type of projection to me from some doctors who are suffering from psychosis attributable to Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I “call on” all universities and colleges to end tenure for these pinheaded idiots called “professors”. How would these unethical, protected-from-reality morons like that?

No doubt they also think somebody can be born male but really be a female. I’ve always thought many people study psychology thinking they can figure out their own mental problems.

How embarrassing. . . for Obama. Trump has accomplished far more in 7 months than Obama did in his 8 years and an “illustrious” team of psychiatrists have determined that TRUMP is unfit for office....

It’s creepy to see the way communism used psychiatry to successfully eliminate political adversaries and then look at the way the industry in the US has been dominated/taken over by the left. I’ve read that students are rebuffed by professors if they are in the “wrong” political party. Can’t get advanced degree in psychology in many universities unless you are a native speaker of the leftist language.

The first shrink who can either cure a patient or accurately predict behavior is the one I will listen too. So far there aren’t any.

Psychiatry professors fraudsters. Might as well be a bunch of astrologers. Our universities are damned poor at keeping the phonies out.

Szasz was an atheist but was more in agreement with God about psychiatry than he knew! (He wrote a career's worth of books on the subject)

"Probably highly unethical for psychiatrists to be making public statements about the mental status of anyone they haven’t interviewed and diagnosed in person"

No "probably". It's downright disgraceful.

Really.

If you had an appointment with a psychiatrist and they looked you up on Facebook and found they hated your politics, do you think that you could POSSIBLY get decent care from them?

These so-called "doctors" are dishonest morons, who should NOT be trusted with patient care in any capacity.

My understanding is it is unethical for doctors to do this. Person has to have been your patient, or you have to have examined them.I suspect of you look into it, these folks are in fact not licensed to practice medicine.

If these are actually MD psychiatrists, somebody should contact their respective state medical boards and file complaints against them. They are simply labeling a victim from afar, with no examination whatsoever. Pure malice. Pure malpractice.

None of these psychiatrists have examined him and it is quite unethical to diagnose someone without examining the person.

Very true and their comments are an absolute disgrace.

Early in my career, I could see the American Psychiatric Association, at their annual meetings, was going far left.

They're ignoring the Goldwater Rule: "The Goldwater rule is the informal name given to Section 7 in the American Psychiatric Association's Principles of Medical Ethics, which states it is unethical for psychiatrists to give a professional opinion about public figures they have not examined in person, and from whom they have not obtained consent to discuss their mental health in public statements. It is named after presidential candidate Barry Goldwater."

Of course, the end justifies the means preempts the Goldwater Rule with currents leftists.

Well, of course it is “disgraceful”, but professionals such as psychiatrists also have formal codes of ethics which are enforceable by specific sanctions if those to whom they apply are found to violate them - I don’t know how the psychiatric code is worded, but I would be surprised if it were not contrary to it in some way to diagnose, analyze and essentially prescribe for anyone not seen personally - that’s why a timely complaint to the American Psychiatric Association might induce the professors to decide they acted inappropriately.....

I call for an immediate end to the psychiatrists career and professional license for violation of Section 7 in the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Principles of Medical Ethics, which states it is unethical for psychiatrists to give a professional opinion about public figures they have not examined in person, and from whom they have not obtained consent to discuss their mental health in public statements..

What’s funny is the fake news media and Democrats sound insane ranting about a non-existent Russian conspiracy to allegedly tamper with our electoral processes to get Trump elected.

No, our psychiatric professors won’t venture an opinion about that state of mind. Instead of calling them on it, Trump is the one with a few screws loose.

Yup, definite lefty projection going on here.

There was quite a heated discussion on the Goldwater Rule at the APA annual conference in San Diego earlier this year.
