Marijuana isn’t (physically) addictive,

Just because the government told you that, doesn't make it true. If marijuana isn't addictive, then how come people "introduced" to it have to use it religiously.

Example, that director Kevin Smith, was 35+ when some actor introduced it to him, now, by his own admission, is smoking it almost all his waking hours.

Pure fallacy.

I was “introduced” to cannabis at the age of 15. I didn’t touch it again until I was 20 & not again after that till I was 40. 14 years after that I began using cannabis medicinally.

How did I manage not to use it for years at a time, nick? Do tell.

There's a large difference between physical addiction and habit forming.

Withdrawal from a substance that is physically addicting includes Sweating racing heart, palpitations, muscle tension, tightness in the chest, difficulty breathing, tremors, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

No one ever experienced any of these symptoms when they stop smoking pot, no matter how much they smoke or how often.

lol. Why do fat people have to eat twinkies? If the discontinuation of the use of a substance produces a physical effect, a "withdrawal", then it is said to be addictive. Marijuana causes no such effect. I don't know nor care why Kevin Smith gets high regularly. That's his business. But it darn sure isn't because he'll have physical withdrawals if he doesn't.

Since you tend to argue this issue with the sophistication of an 11-year-old girl, I'm going to point out one of the more blatant flaws in your reasoning in the vain hope that your method may improve later. There are something like 350 million people in this country, an unknown percentage of whom have or currently do smoke pot, but if we say it's only 1%, for arguments sake (I bet it's greater), then that is 3.5 million people who either do or have smoked pot. Citing an example of someone like Kevin Smith, about whom, realistically, you know very little, as proof of some overall trend is beyond silly. His example is 1/3,500,000 . Even if you put up all of Hollywood, all of professional sports, and all of the lowlifes in your neighborhood as examples, we would still be talking about only, maybe, <10,000/3,500,000 .

The point is that there are a lot of people who smoke pot who don't make an issue of it, don't behave badly because of it, and are unknown to people like you because they simply don't mention it. Most of the Freepers who defend decriminalization/legalization of pot do so because 1) they recognize the damage that the War on Drugs has done, 2) they know that the government propaganda, such as "Reefer Madness", about marijuana being this most horrible drug, is false because they've either used it themselves or have seen fairly representative samples of decent, responsible people who smoke pot and therefore are aware of its effect in the real world instead of fantasy-land Drug Warrior propaganda.
