Trump’s Stunner in Poland: An America and Europe First Speech for the Ages
CNSnews ^ | Fr. Mark Pilon

When I read the president’s speech in Warsaw the other day, I was stunned. Who could have “thunk” it? Certainly in my lifetime, I have never read a presidential address that caught me by such surprise. It was the context that grabbed me. Western civilization has a context, and that’s what has been missing from presidential addresses for a long, long time, perhaps with the exception of Ronald Reagan. But this speech seems to grasp the contextual situation much better than Reagan did in terms of the full scope of the struggle for survival going on in our world.

A friend of mine in Louisville, who was a big fan of both Nixon and Reagan, confirmed my own response to the speech when he wrote to me: “What a splendid address it was. Much better than anything Reagan or Nixon had to offer. The specific and repeated evocation of Catholic Poland warmed many hearts, including mine. Who could have expected it?” And he added this little comment, which I also agree with: “I guess this does scare Francis and his St. Gallen/Lavender Mafia. Trump connects better with the Catholic people than they do.”

The President’s speech was far-ranging, and I thought he hit all the right notes. But it was especially inspiring in the way it uplifted the Polish spirit, and lavishly praised the heroism of this great nation throughout history, with a particular emphasis on its suffering and resistance during World War II and throughout the communist oppression. It was not an America first speech, but a Western civilization first speech, and an America and Europe first speech. It spoke frankly about the survival of Europe depending upon their meeting their own obligations of self-defense. It invited Russia to stop meddling in the affairs of other nations and join......

I actually read this yesterday. It was posted before either on FR or Lucianne.

The Catholic News Service is a Catholic newspaper which serves the more traditional, faith-filled Catholics in the USA.

This blog is a terrific description of Trump’s speech in Warsaw, with a few darts thrown at PF as well.

“... with a particular emphasis on its suffering and resistance during World War II...”

Things like that were a moot point for “O”. THAT guy was laughably clueless about the history of the US and its place in world politics.

“O” was THE most uninformed and narrow minded person to ever occupy the WH. And he had a blind spot a mile wide where TRUE Americans possess a time-abiding sense of national identity and a boundless humanitarian respect for freedom across the world and throughout our existence, AS a nation.

I am a Louisvillian. I am a Republican. I sent money to Ted Cruz. I am a conservative. I love President Trump.

I do not think of Trump as a conservative but whatever he is much of his ideology fits conservatism. I wish he believed everything the way I do I don’t expect to ever see a politician that does, that we overlap as much as we do is wonderful. Trump is MORE than I hoped he would be.

Some time after Trump announced I noticed that he was drawing huge crowds for his rally’s. I decided to tune into one and then another and another. I truly liked what he was saying. The newscasters were all saying that Trump was lying and he didn’t really believe all that he was saying, it sounded like he believed it. I started sending my money to Trump.

What Trump has done to the Main Stream Media is magical. There is probably only one organization I dislike more than the Democratic party, that is the press, at least the MSM. The MSM is simply an arm of the Democratic party so I guess I really shouldn’t separate the two.

Trump has done more to undo what Obama took 8 years to do than any of us could have hoped for. Trump sent a true conservative to the Supreme court and is likely to send at least one more.

Trump is the first person in government who has been willing to admit that Global Warming is nonsense, or worse a scam. It was amazing to see him despite all the pressure not to to pull out of the Paris accords, what a guy.

I loved President Reagan for many of the same virtues but I have never in my long life seen the press attack one person like they have done to Trump. I have never seen the Deep State attack someone like they have to Trump. What Nixon got was child’s play compared to what is happening to Mr. Trump. President Trump is his own man. Nobody tells him what to do. Nobody intimidates President Trump.

I can hardly wait to see the next three and a half years.

Let me say that Trump would not have been able to have given that speech in a free Poland had it not been for Ronald Reagan.
