NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio So ‘Frustrated’ with Panhandlers He Wants to Make It Illegal

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said he is so fed up with the city’s panhandlers begging for money on the street that he wants to ban the practice.

“I’m saying that not as a matter of policy. I’m saying that as a human being, bluntly,” Mayor de Blasio told WNYC radio Friday.

I actually agree with him on this one. Not a complete ban but tailor anti vagrancy laws to allow the police to be able to stop unacceptable behaviour.

I can’t believe that I am actually agreeing with him. If people would only stop giving them money and instead give it to the Salvation Army or some other organizations that help homeless or drug and alcohol addicted people. When you give them money you are actually hurting them in the long run. Some of them are actually just cons anyway. I keep seeing these Gypsy women with little kids begging for money in the Home Depot parking lot in Roseville. I thought about calling Child Protective Servives and I will if I see them again.

“Aggressive panhandling” has been illegal in NYC a long time and police will arrest or shelter bums that do so. Happens about once a month on my block.

Since it is considered a crime in progress, the city asks that you call 911
