Hidden by pine forests near the deserted site of what was once East Germany’s biggest nuclear reactor, two shiny pipelines emerge from the Baltic Sea to mark the spot where Chancellor Angela Merkel is trying to secure the country’s energy future.
Not far from the Hanseatic town of Greifswald — an area Merkel represents in parliament — the chancellor wants a $10 billion pipeline expansion built to increase the amount of Russian natural gas imported from Siberia, more than 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles) away.

I was not aware of the German dependence on Russian natural gas.
Most of the media is also ignoring the initial deliveries of US natural gas via LNG shipments to Europe.
Merkel and her western EU country counterparts were hoping to gain energy and economic independence from Russia Gasprom, via the Qatar/Saudi Syrian Gas/Oil pipeline.
Now that the later appears to not be happening, Merkel seeks favor with Putin to ensure future affordable energy.
The awful thing is that Merkel and the US created the Syria refugee crisis by instigating the overthrow of Syria’s Assad, resulting with the inception of the ISIS terror group.
US LNG arrived in Poland last month. First US LNG shipment arrives in the UK on Saturday morning.
The Middle East mess and its consequences might be Obama’s biggest legacy.
If I was a billionaire, I would buy a ticket for every conservative american to go protest this pipeline
