This sounded like a fake story from CNN from the get-go, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone. They should have their press credentials to the White House revoked for their practice of fake journalism.
My boss in the mortgage banking business years ago would tell us regional managers, "Go out there and get out such and such done. Just don't shoot yourself in the d*ck."

My guess is that Zucker will be fired after the AT&T purchase or moved somewhere where he can't do too much damage and CNN will either improve or close it's doors.
