"NKorea is trying to show strength and power, but everyone can see that they are just pretenders.

That part I don't agree with. They can leave every missile they have on the ground and they'd still roll across the DMZ as though it were nothing more than a speed bump. If we got into it with them it would be a long protracted battle.

My guess is NK would fight damn hard in a ground war for a week. Then they’d collapse as an organized force. Guerrilla warfare might continue for awhile, but I’d imagine they want to eat more than fight and surrender to their prosperous southern siblings before very long.

The determing factor might be China. If they rolled in to prop up the state in a war, they might get rid of the current regime and replace it with something more like their own current state. Or they might negotiate a reunification with the south in exchange for Taiwan rejoining the mainland.
