WASHINGTON In the four months since he took office as the Environmental Protection Agencys administrator, Scott Pruitt has moved to undo, delay or otherwise block more than 30 environmental rules, a regulatory rollback larger in scope than any other over so short a time in the agencys 47-year history, according to experts in environmental law.
Mr. Pruitts supporters, including President Trump, have hailed his moves as an uprooting of the administrative state and a clearing of onerous regulations that have stymied American business. Environmental advocates have watched in horror as Mr. Pruitt has worked to disable the authority of the agency charged with protecting the nations air, water and public health.
But both sides agree: While much of Mr. Trumps policy agenda is mired in legal and legislative delays, hampered by poor execution and overshadowed by the Russia investigations, the E.P.A. is acting. Mr. Pruitt, a former Oklahoma attorney general who built a career out of suing the agency he now leads, is moving effectively to dismantle the regulations and international agreements that stood as a cornerstone of President Barack Obamas legacy.
Just the number of environmental rollbacks in this time frame is astounding, said Richard Lazarus, a professor of environmental law at Harvard. Pruitt has come in with a real mission. He is much more organized, much more focused than the other cabinet-level officials, who have not really taken charge of their agencies. Its very striking how much theyve done.

Not to belittle Pruitt’s excellent accomplishments, but EPA is somewhat easy — rollback everything!!!!
>>> “Environmental advocates have watched in horror . . ..”<<<
BS I am an “environmental advocate” and applaud Pruitt for what he is accomplishing. The regulations overturned so far will have little to no impact on clean air, water or public health. They will, however, be rational and free business and farming interests of ridiculously obstructionist regulatory oversight.
I served a number of years as an environmental attorney, so this opinion is not wholly unfounded.

At a minimum, 8 years’ worth and probably a good deal more.
Good news. Thank you.
Sorry, this opinion of mine was not worth a double post!
The EPA needs to step up to the plate and drop the litigation against Duarte Nursery.
yeah. It was worth a double post. Thanks.
I thought it was!
Yes it was.
Go, Pruitt, go!! Go, Trump, GO!! Drain the swamp!!
Yes it was.

Actually, it’s easier. Just end the EPA. Give the authority back to the individual states. Let the courts settle disputes between those states.
And all BLM land not for military use, naval ports, real estate plots for buildings necessary to conduct the business of the fed gov and access to those plots, returned to the states the land is in.
Roll back the fedzilla to its Constitutional limits.
The EPA staff got us where we are today.
Pruitts mission is to undo as much of the damage as possible.
The EPA needs to be neutered to the point that no leftist appointments can ever return it to the bureaucratic nightmare it had become.
“Environmental advocates have watched in horror as Mr. Pruitt has worked to disable the authority of the agency charged with protecting the nations air, water and public health.”
Sane US Citizens have long decried the Unconstitutional acts of an agency illegally usurping the power and authority of the individual sovereign states and the US Congress.
“The EPA needs to be neutered to the point that no leftist appointments can ever return it to the bureaucratic nightmare it had become.”
This is why it is important that as the EPA gets rid of staff, that the facilities they occupy be dismantled and/or sold off. Not having any infrastructure left makes any “restart” in the future a whole lot more problematic.
