Howard Jacobson, in his June 24 New York Times op-ed piece, "Why We Must Mock Trump," began by referring to the anti-Trump production of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" in New York's Central Park, as proof "that plays retain the power to shock and enrage." Do productions of "Julius Caesar," played straight, generally "shock and enrage"? I don't think so. And this production is not straight Shakespeare not with reference to President Trump's apartment on "Fifth Avenue."
At the end of his column, Jacobson asserted, "Derision is a social necessity." Okay. Imagine, say, Kathy Griffin holding what looks like the severed head of...Hillary Clinton. Would Mr. Jacobson write a piece called "Why We Must Mock Hillary Clinton" or would he denounce this as offensive, beyond the pale, an action to be condemned? And if the severed head resembled Barack Obama, does anyone doubt that a media firestorm would ensue, protesting this inexcusable example of wishful thinking on the part of a vicious racist who should be prosecuted for hate to the fullest extent of the law and more?
Mr. Jacobson acknowledged the absence of humor in communist regimes. He continued: "The more monocratic the regime, the less it can bear criticism. And of all criticism, satire with its single ambition of ridiculing vanity and delusion is the most potent." But where is the sense of humor among our anti-Trump leftists? Donald Trump makes a sarcastic comment about Russian hacking suggesting that if they have emails on Democrats, why, let's have them and the left rushes to denounce Trump as a Putin agent. Are leftists, in giving us images of a dead Donald Trump offering satire or wishful thinking?

Hahahaha, the ends ALWAYS justify the means for the ‘Rats.
NYT would have been SHUT DOWN for publishing the same words about their god the Fraud.
Better yet, imagine a play depicting the ‘justified’ lynching of Obama in the park.
I wonder how much societal need they would find in that sort of thing.
The left thought it was okay to talk about killing Bush, and now they think it’s okay to show beheadings and killings of Trump.
And yet they continue to trash the Right for being the violent ones.
A more clueless (perhaps just plain evil and devious) movement has never existed.
I must admit I have fantasies about NYT chapter 13.
But not about the death of any of their staff - only inconvenience as they switch from the NYT to a job where they fit better like Pixar or Marvel Comics. In the end it will be good for them when they can use their imagination without having to hide it or pretend to be “journalists”.
How about when the shiet hit the fan when a congressman called Obomo a liar on the floor of the house? Can’t imagine the frenzy if he had suggested beheading the mulatto POS bastard. Nan Pelosi should get out in front of this and protect her president in the same manner.
The Left loves violence and revenge porn.
NYT=seditious bastards. Jail every one of them.

While I suspect the previous regime was highly monocratic, we'll never know how really monocratic it was, because their lackeys in the media never offered any criticism.
That sounds as horrendous as the excuse of a Muslim rapist that he did it because he had a “sexual emergency.” The NYT has no shame either.
Geesh. Somebody throw that bum a quarter. Maybe he’ll go away.
He looks like a Spitting Image puppet.
Since the author states we are in the era of derision and we don’t want to be monocratic, I fantasize quite often about an incident that combines Oklahoma and WTC terror attacks upon the NYT building. I am just laying out satire and wish nobody harm. This is our social necessity and right. /s
Oh Man
I laughed.
I’d love to see a play called ‘The death of the NY Times’.or ‘Nancy Pelosi’s Homicide’. Liberals, two can play this game!!!
Fantasies are a human trait, experience, plus a brain plus imagination.
The NYT seriously believes that Barack Hussein Obama assassination fantasies were not a national epidemic?
The only difference was that conservatives and patriots did not randomly kill innocent people to vent their immaturities... without remorse, without functional brain waves. Pure animal rage.
