Trump Prepares To Send Priebus Packing

Posted on June 23, 2017 by DCWhispers

Reince Priebus, the then-RNC Chair, was never a fan of Donald Trump’s insurgency presidential campaign. Priebus was allied with party Establishment figures like Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, and John Kasich. And yet, despite that anti-Trump history, Donald Trump made Priebus his White House Chief of Staff so that Priebus could utilize his extensive party contacts and influence to move the Trump agenda forward.

That hasn’t happened and as a result Mr. Priebus is now poised to find himself standing outside the Trump White House looking in.

“He won’t last the summer.”

So goes the repeated mantra of several figures familiar with the Trump White House. It is a belief that was the foundation of today’s report by THE HILL regarding the same subject:

Priebus ‘most imperiled’ person at White House

“…The Post reports that Trump is dissatisfied with the chaos in the White House and wants someone with more governing experience to take over the top job. Sources told the Post that Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney and Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) have both been floated for the job.

One source told the Post that Priebus is “the most imperiled person here.”

The report claims that Priebus’s job security could rest on the passage of healthcare and tax reform. According to the Post, Priebus is heavily involved in the White House efforts to repeal ObamaCare and pass tax reform and could exit the White House early to save face if he feels he’s accomplished his goals.”

Trump’s reported dissatisfaction with Priebus comes in two parts. The first is the internal chaos within the Trump White House – namely leaks and alleged constant infighting. The second is how successful Congress has been in obstructing the Trump agenda – including by the very Republicans Priebus was supposed to gain the support of.

Rumors are also circulating that Mr. Priebus wants out but not before he succeeds in helping to get Congress to pass healthcare reform which in turn will lay the groundwork for sweeping tax reform to soon follow. If he can accomplish that his legacy will remain intact and he can exit the Trump White House with his head held high.

The question is if Donald Trump is willing to allow Priebus that long.

Whispers indicate that might not be the case.

I think he was able to help him with the election, but Chief of Staff is beyond his skill level.

I’m amazed this doesn’t have a FakeNews hashtag.
I used the "grain of salt" meme instead.

The idea Preibus will escape unscathed is ludicrous. He has never (I repeat NEVER) crossed anyone like Trump. And sadly for him he has no clue of the consequences personally for him. His career is over! Not just because he’s done a lousy job but because someone needs to be made an example. And in Trump’s world, it might as well be Preibus . . . next?

“At this point there is no reason to fire anyone unless he has someone to replace him.”

Bannon would be a ‘fine’ fit.

If true, I hope he picks Newt to replace him. He’d make a superb chief of staff.

You wouldn’t know he wasn’t 100% on-board the Trump Train once Trump won the nomination - he deserves points for that despite being a wet washrag.

These fake news stories are intended to divide Trump supporters, and sadly, the strategy is effective.

The way it works is that someone on the Trump team is identified as supposedly “imperiled”.

Notice they always pick someone who is not liked by some faction of Trump supporters, like Kushner or Priebus. The people who invent these rumors listen to what Trump supporters are complaining about and jump on it.

Take Jeff Sessions for example. Many true Trump supporters express FRustration that investigations into innocent Republicans persist while Democrat criminals go unindicted. So doubts arise about Sessions’ effectiveness.

Trump’s enemies in the fake news see this as an opportunity to drive a wedge - divide and conquer. A rumor that Sessions’ head is on the chopping block is invented out of thin air. “Anonymous sources” within the administration are cited to provide false legitimacy and cover for the complete lack of substance.

The sad part is that those Trump supporters who have doubts about Sessions (or Kushner, or Priebus, or whomever) feel vindicated by the fake story and resonate with it - so they tend to hope the rumor is true. They believe it. Those who defend Sessions have their buttons pushed as well - they are angry at the idea that Trump is (supposedly) considering dumping Sessions - but the anger clouds their vision and they too believe the fake news.

The damage done is threefold:

1) The story reinforce the false premise that there is indeed something wrong - some incompetence, some ineffectiveness, some betrayal).

2) The story reinforces the false narrative that the Trump administration is in chaos, under siege, poorly managed, embroiled in petty fueds, on the verge of being swallowed up by the deep state - in short, that Trump is failing.

3) The story reinforces the myth that Anonymous Sources are continuously leaking information (some classified) to the press, which suggests an administration is “leaky” that it cannot be entrusted with the nation’s security.

And whose word are we basing all of this on? The MSM.

Folks, we need to be careful not to let the fake news push our buttons, just because the rumor they are peddling fits in with one of our own pet peeves.

Those Trump supporters who worry about Jared and Ivanka Kushner are being ‘played’ by the fake news. Same with those who worry about Sessions, Priebus, etc..

Let’s take something from the Democrat play book. Let’s stick together - if we have concerns - that’s OK, but make damn sure they are real and that they are worth splitting up over.

This Trump movement has the potential of truly draining the swamp. Trump seems serious about it. But if we allow ourselves to be arranged into a circular firing squad, we will be squandering a rare opportunity.

That’s exactly what they are attempting with all this fake news. Arranging us into a circular firing squad. If they can trick us into picking off Kushner, Sessions, Priebus, and everyone else that anyone has an objection with, will there be anyone left?

If we doubt all of Trump’s decisions about who to have on his team, that sends the message that support is thin - the leftist sharks will see blood in the water.

He has been through the wringer, that’s for sure! DEATH THREATS for himself, his wife and kids and PARENTS? I’m so glad no one was harmed.

The Socialists in Wisconsin did NOT go quietly...but they’ve been quiet for a while now...probably plotting to blow something up, which is their usual Hippie-M.O. Jerks.
