When they allow Christians to build churches in UAE and Saudi Arabia, then I will believe this token gesture.
Well, you didn’t read the whole article. They quoted an Anglican priest who is at a nearby Anglican church.
The UAE has churches, Saudi does not!
Mary the Theotokos (Mother of God/Birthgiver of God) would not appreciate the blasphemous prayers that will be uttered in that mosque!!!!
If muslims in the UAE would come to know Her, She will lead them to Her Son, who is—as we prayed in Divine Liturgy this morning—One of the Holy Trinity!!!!
Read the story. St Andrews is near by.
Some Muslims think that Catholics worship Mary, just as some Protestants think. And the fact is that a few Catholics do worship Mary. But that is not the Catholic theology.
It seems that Catholics ask Mary to pray for them in the same way that anyone would ask any other believer to pray for them. But Mary is the Mother of Jesus. Jesus obeys the Ten Commandments. So Jesus honors both his father and his mother. That means Jesus listens to his mother, Mary. Jesus listens to Mary in a way he does not listen to the rest of us humans. Muslims don't believe in the Trinity. They don't understand the Trinity. So they have problems with Catholics "praying to Mary". But Muslims do think Mary was a good, Godly person. Their problem isn't with Mary. it is with the way Catholics act about her.
What are you talking about? There have been Christian churches and Hindu temples in the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and BAhrain for decades now, with the governments’ blessings
Saudia doesn't, but every other state in the country allows you to practise Christianity freely
Even IRAN -- yes, Iran, they have the oldest Church in existence there (an Armenian orthodox church) with freedom for Church wine, freedom to worship and seats reserved in parliament.
In contrast our "ally" the Saudis ban even bringing the Bible into the country
