It’s not just ice and snow. Water expands when it gets warmer, so the sea levels would rise in a global warming scenario even if there were no glaciers melting.
Since you mention coefficients of expansion for sea water all the components of global land mass also have coefficients of expansion over a much broader temperature range than sea water.4
Is it a wash? Dunno and don’t care to fall down that rabbit hole.
“Its not just ice and snow. Water expands when it gets warmer, so the sea levels would rise in a global warming scenario even if there were no glaciers melting.”
It’s not just thermal expansion, sea floor is sinking hence the dubious “GIA” adjustments of sea level graphs.
(Zwally 2015) “Gains exceed losses” of Antarctic glaciers means that all sea level calculation prior to this paper are wrong. Antarctic is taking from the ocean not adding.
Also: Hard to imagine the oceans getting much warmer with global glacial icy waters gushing into them.
Water also expands when it freezes.
