They came for John Cunningham on a sunny evening last week, showing up at his house in Brighton like early dinner guests.

They were federal immigration agents, and they were there to throw John Cunningham out of the country he has called home for 18 years.

John Cunningham, 38, has an electrical contracting business. He has paid taxes. He has done much to improve the lives of those around him.

Did he ever pay that customer the $,1000 he took for a job he never did? He’s from Ulster County in Ireland. I wonder what trouble he’d gotten himself into over there before he came here. He had himself a successful business, but claims he couldn’t get his immigration status resolved? Sounds like BS to me, especially since there were plenty of Kennedys in Congress over the years who would have bent over backwards to give him a hand. This one-sided tear-jerk story stinks to high heavens. I’ve no sympathy for him. He created the problem he’s found himself in.

The headline is correct, and I’m glad it’s the headline, more illegal aliens will hear about it that way.

No illegal is safe, which is how it should be.

"I wonder if he had a fake Social Security Number?"

Check the voter rolls. He's probably voted too.

In what meaningful way is he different from a Mexican illegal immigrant who has an electrical business, pays taxes, and "has done much to improve the lives of those around him," such as his employees and his own family?

At least two families in my neighborhood are in the electrician business. They're Polish.

Excellent questions.

Or, who did he pay off to get one?

Or, did he use fraudulent paperwork to get one?

I mean, it only took Obama 3 years to come up with his so-called Long Form Birth Certificate.

>>>3<<<

>>>YEARS<<<

Nope, nothing suspicious about that at all. Not a bit. Nope. NosireeBob. Has to be legit. 2 legit 2 quit.

"Who ACTUALLY is this “Cunningham”?"

Who knows if that's even his real name.

I don’t care if he’s been Mother Teresa, enforce our laws instead of looking for excuses for law breakers.

No one is safe? No lawbreaker is safe, the rest of us are fine.

The leftie border patrol folks will go after the most dramatic, tear-jerking, heart-breaking stories to make sure Trump looks bad. That mom who was ripped away from her children (whom she CHOSE to leave here), etc. Wait and see. Not the good BP folks, just the skunks in their mix.

You make some good points. Work with me here.

As far as leaving the country to apply for legal status, shouldn’t he have done this years ago, when his 90 day visa expired?

How do we make attempts at becoming legal so difficult? Do you mean we make it difficult for someone to become legal if they overstay a visa? If that’s what you mean, people aren’t supposed to overstay their visa in the first place. They are supposed to go home after their 90 day or whatever time period is up. And then, they can go through the legal process to immigrate to America.

Or perhaps I’m missing something.

I’m assuming one would have had to be apprenticed to learn the trade, then get certified and licensed as an electrician, before being allowed to start their own contracting business, right? How does one do that if they’re here illegally?

Chris Lavery, his lawyer, visited him in jail. Cunningham is despondent. “What does this accomplish?” Chris Lavery asked.

The short answer is it accomplishes nothing. For those who would ask, “What part of illegal don’t you understand,” I’d ask, “What part of pointless don’t you understand?”

Pointless, huh? It doesn't take many examples like this to get illegals already in the U.S. to self-deport and people considering coming here illegally to rethink their plans. Just look at the dramatic drop in southern border crossings under Trump attributable SOLELY to enforcing existing law.

Attorney Lavery is a real douchebag lawyer. However, I repeat myself.

I’d be willing to bet he hasn’t paid a dime in income taxes since he got here. I’d also be willing to bet that his employees were all illegal aliens being paid cash under the table.

How does one do that if they’re here illegally?

By paying bribes, probably.

Maybe he was a licensed electrician before coming to the United States, and all he had to do was show his certificate.

That is the way it is supposed to work. But getting an immigrant visa to the U.S.A is extremely difficult unless you game the system.

Gaming the system is easiest by useing the “refugee” program, where by millions of third worlder’s have deliberately been brought into the country.

If you are from Europe... It is a multi-year, extremely difficult process that costs tens of thousands of dollars, or so I recall.

If he’s been here at least 18 years, that means he came here during Bubba’s 2nd term. In order to get the Peace deal signed in Ireland, maybe Bubba agreed to cut some slack for Irish immigrants. I can believe it, because he would have sold his mother down the river for a pittance.

He came here for the opportunities - he wasn’t doing us any favors, he was looking out for himself. How many actual Americans did he steal those opportunities from? The reporter doesn’t acknowledge that part of it.
