Saudi security forces foiled a terror plot targeting the Grand Mosque in the Muslim holy city of Mecca after a suspect blew himself up after a gunfight.
Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry said security forces exchanged gunfire with one of the suspects who blew himself up inside a home he was hiding in yesterday.

I suspect Iran behind this in one form or another......they’re like a madman after Trumps Tour to Saudi.....which put Saudi once again as the leader in the Muslim World.....
I suspect Iran will further incite as many conflicts and happenings now to get the ME nations fighting each other and drag the US and Russia into war........Iran leaders believe conflict and chaos is key to the return of their spiritual leader the Maudee....so they are happiest when there are conflicts.

I wish we could stop the”holy” this and that. I’m sure it’s a “holy” tourist trap.
How can one read this article and not be incredulous at how the subject of motives is danced around. One might wonder how it would be terrorism by ISIS when the targets are Islamic. Its like they want to avoid explaing how Islam demands death for apostasy which results in ongoing violence between its sects.

There is nt really a dispute over interpretation but rather over the lineage from which must come the rightful caliph. it is likd a fight within Leftism. The question is not principles or really even their application but rather, in Lenin’s question, “Who, Whom?”

Remember the all-out attack on the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979? IIRC, it was carried out by Shias, aided by Iran. Saudi security forces took the attackers on and it was quite bloody. My family and I were prepping for a move to Jidda, (60 miles from the Mosque) and my mother and mother-in-law were quite nervous about this move.)
Islam is resurgent in response to a weakened, retreating West that stands for nothing but vague platitudes, which no one will stand for much less fight for.
I used to really want to go back to Istanbul for a visit. then when I finally reached a point that I could afford it, well, it was obvious it was not the same culture as in my childhood there and I have not gone. I heard many stories of Ataturk and how it once was in the bad old days. The bad old days seem to have returned.
And there is no opposite wing of Islam. The disagreement is almost purely on what lineage rightfully supplies the caliphate. Some differences in practices have developed but not in belief or even emphasis.
I see. Is that why they kill each other?
