Dems begin to panic as Trump set to transform federal judiciary
The American Thinker ^ | 06/23/17 | Thomas Lifson

While Democrats obsess over the Russia hacking fantasy and Robert Mueller as Trump's Javert, President Trump, the Federalist Society, and Senator Chuck Grassley are on the way to making the federal judiciary great again. The Huffington Post noticed and is worried:

Trump is unbelievably well positioned to fill up federal courts with lifetime judges. He inherited a whopping 108 court vacancies when he became president – double the number of vacancies President Barack Obama inherited when he took office.

The reason Trump gets to fill so many seats is partly because Obama was slow to fill court vacancies early in his tenure. But the main reason is Republicans' yearslong strategy of denying votes to Obama's court picks. They refused to recommend judicial nominees, filibustered others, used procedural rules to drag out the confirmation process and, by Obama's final year, blocked nominees they had recommended just to prevent him from filling more seats.

Yep: Sometimes the Stupid Party actually does its job.

Elections have consequences, and when voters handed control of the Senate to the GOP, Senator Grassley – the very opposite of a showboater – did his job as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee with skill. Now he is poised to capitalize on that control, using the Dems' "Reid Rule" that abolished the filibuster for judicial nominations, and will supplement it with another reform that will prevent Dems from obstructing appointments to the Circuit Courts of Appeals:

If there was ever an amendment to repeal the 17th and revert the election of senators to the statehouses, I wonder how many statehouse would vote for it?

IMHO, it’s too big a bone to pass up giving them considerable clout to elect candidates to represent their STATE’s best interests (as what it should be).

Thoughts?

The Democrap party only has itself to blame. If they are going to continue to side with thugs, criminals, terrorists, then they can kiss their party goodbye. Just the other day a Democrat said he wished Steve Scalise was killed in that shooting. So not only is he siding with a lefty terrorist that tried to mass execute people at that ball game, he’s only complaining because Scalise wasn’t killed. Wonderful! That will do wonders for the Democratic party! It’s incredible the stupidity, Republicans don’t have to anything but sit back and watch the Democraps self destruct and it drives me NUTS they don’t do anything! Why isn’t the wall going up? Why isn’t FULL repeal and replace going down? They Democraps are powerless. They shoved Obamacare down our throats when they were running the show, yet the Republicans are acting like little wuss bags “Oooo we dont want to get Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer mad!”

Althou there is merit to the ‘blue slip’ rule the federal injustice system has become so political and corrupt that appointing ideologically agreeable dictators to each state is just making people get uses to the fact that they live under dictators rather than judges.

The rule of law needs to be demanded by all sides, and that is not going to happen as long as the majority in each region likes the petty dictators they have. As it is the left has the advantage there is is unlikely to lose anytime soon because most conservatives still believe in the rule of law which the left changes with each invented edict.

Republcans are also a part of the same maching that feeds the dems. The reason they might not want to do swamp draining is because the same donors and lobbyists are paying them off as the dems.
Don’t think they’re scared or clueless. Understand these lawyers entrenched in power in DC are acting in their own interest.

LOL! They just knew those would be Hillary's picks. I'll bet they already had the names picked out and all the nominees were already contacted before Nov.8.

Despite the portrayal of GOP Senate blocking and obstructing judges .... just look at the quality of Obama’s choices.

Remember, it has always been the liberals who set new lows.
