Yep. The American Spectator ^ | 04/13/17 | STEVE BALDWIN A former colleague assesses one of the most dastardly Democrats of our time. In the course of the Trump wiretapping brouhaha and the Trump/Russian conspiracy claim, the face of one Congressman, Adam Schiff, seems to appear everywhere in the news. As the lead Democrat of the House Intelligence Committee, he has managed to attract a huge media following, who, not surprisingly, hang on every word he utters while never questioning any of his pronouncements

>>Maybe once in awhile a good guy “leaks through the sieve” and gets elected, but for the most part, the political parties are closed clubs, membership limited to those who by inclination won;t upset the applecart, or who are unable to do so (see Maxine Waters and other useful idiots)

Good thoughts there, Cboldt. This part of your post prompts me to wonder about this: Why are there political parties at all? I don’t remember reading about political parties in the Constitution.

It makes me wonder why these “closed clubs”, as you rightly describe them, were tolerated from almost the start of our country. Why, if they are privately-owned closed clubs, would the American People have tolerated this?

IMO, our country and our People’s liberty is being held hostage by these privileged groups who pre-select primary candidates in such a way as to shut out candidates who honestly want to work FOR the people.

The other day I wondered what it would be like to go into a voting booth and look at names with no party affiliation. It would force voters to research for themselves who the candidates are and what ideas they support. I suspect if this were done, most Americans would stop voting altogether because they were too lazy to do their own candidate research.

Sorry for my rambling thoughts....I guess I “wonder” about things too much : )

Until the time this Country gets serious and starts putting Ropes around the necks of Traitors, this will continue.

There are no consequences and depending on which Party is in the White House, these leakers are treated like Heroes.

Why are there political parties at all?

... to pool money and deploy it to gain more seats than individuals can do on their own

... a form of collectivism

... the theory is that it is difficult for individuals to go it alone and win against a collective

... probably correct or more individuals would win

... not perfect but it is what we have ...

-- Why are there political parties at all? I don't remember reading about political parties in the Constitution. --

There is a substantial amount of writing from the founding era, about the dangers of political parties. "Nothing new under the sun."

The parties represent "authorized dissent," so the electorate and the people can be fooled into believing they have significant control over the direction of public policy. But direction of public policy allowed to be influence by the public is, at the end of the day, insignificant. The public is allowed to argue about (and choose) the color of the paint, the elites control every other aspect of the vehicle.

The people tolerate it because of bread and circuses and all the human nature things. We are vain and self-centered beings, ripe for the picking by people who have steely-eyed determination to rule, and ability to mislead the audience.
