It was supposed to be the race that would give Democrats their groove back, a chance to claim blue turf inside red territory and signal the political perils of Trumpism in districts across the country.
The Democratic Party's all-in approach to Jon Ossoff's candidacy backfired so badly that the big winner was the man who was the target of all the organizing energy on the left. President Trump capped the night declaring outright victory not just in this election but for the slate of contests held in the Trump era.
Ossoff became a vessel for national anger at Trump and a test case with implications far beyond a single House race.
A 30-year-old blank slate of a candidate with scant political experience who happened not to live in the district he was seeking to represent, gladly took Hollywood and Manhattan dollars without adopting fiery anti-Trump messaging or Bernie Sandersstyle progressivism and campaigned as an even-keeled moderate.
Democrats don't have a cohesive message or a road map for arriving at one.
"Race better be a wake up call for Democrats -- business as usual isn't working. Time to stop rehashing 2016 and talk about the future," Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., tweeted Tuesday night, in a widely noted piece of commentary. "We need a genuinely new message, a serious jobs plan that reaches all Americans, and a bigger tent not a smaller one."
But the Democrats' problem, of course, isn't simply fighting; it's winning. For now, with the fights inside the party far from settled, they haven't shown that critical capacity to win.

Once I got through the primary, I could have fun painting myself as the most extreme leftist on the planet and filling up my coffers with lunatic left donations then, after losing, laugh all the way to the bank and a footnote in the history books.
If I might add,
4. find a way to ditch the far left
5. Stop pandering to Illegals, that’s is not their job.
Trump calling out the DU media for 2 years now is the deciding factor that neutralized the DemBot party. They have no good message and are in disarray.
She was smiling then, but he had the same goofy grin on his face.
The only slight comfort I get from that picture is knowing that she spent all day campaigning for Pajama Boy, and then had to pay the cash bar at the "victory" party for that Mexican horse p!ss beer in her hand.
Note the cross she is wearing outside her shirt.
(shaking head)
>>Wow, from ABC.<<
Stories about disarray in the Dim party are permissible in the MSM for the first 24 hours following a crushing Dim defeat. They disappear after that and never repeat.
It’s the stories about the other party’s dissarray and what they must do to fix it that run endlessly in the MSM.
Would it be too presumptuous to change the header to read:
ANALYSIS: Democrats lose face after going bust in Georgia
The d’rats have lost their ‘NEST EGG”. They now are wearing egg on their faces.
Yep. Even those #FakePolls, like the cBS Poll which has Trump at 35% approval. Asked about his media coverage and that poll registers 77% saying UNFAIR!
Go figure.
Looking at that dude on the left....he’s a fecal felony waiting to happen.
Yes, very ugly.
Under that logic I think almost every politician would be guilty of mail fraud.
Democrats are scum....
They’ll do fine. They just need more hate and violence and spending in their party.
Last week I drove by a house in Roswell that had about 8 Ossoff signs lining the front yard. However the biggest sign was a warning that vandalizing the signs is a crime.
I knew then that Ossoff was going to lose.
I wonder what was the DNC’s cut for fund raising? Also the fees for consultant, ad buys, PR, etc. etc.
The left insists on bouying themselves with the notion the losses in special elections have been closer than previous ones. Nevermind the fact turnout has been significantly lower in those special elections. Their delusion is a recipe for disaster in ‘18. However, the ineptitude of republican leadership always finds a way to screw things up.
Oh yeah....that’s an incentive for them to fund-raise recklessly.
“A 30-year-old blank slate of a candidate with scant political experience who happened not to live in the district he was seeking to represent....”
Wow. Good thing they didn’t realize this months ago when this doofus decided to run.
there. fixed it.
