We should nuke Pyongyang right in the middle of one of those massive robot rallies.

he grew up in the United States, and as a product of the educational system that no longer teaches history, he probably was totally unaware of just how demented North Korea is. He probably received more negative teaching about the United States than he did about North Korea.

Bump
My sentiments exactly. He went, ignoring all warnings, apparently believing he was “special”, and that the rules that applied to everyone else; do not apply to him.

Then he left his room and went to a Staff Only part of the hotel and defaced a portion of the Dictator, believing again, he was “special”’.

His parents financed his foolishness, they did not instill any common sense, leading this fool to provoke a Government that dislikes America; and his education cost him his life. Sorry, no sympathy.

My sympathy lie with the people who have no choice, but to be there. Namely our Military and the people forced to live there.

He chose to go to a hostile communist country known for not being friendly with America and it cost him his life. No high horse involved. Just the simple truth.

I recently learned that downtown Detroit is having somewhat of a revival with millennials moving in. Never thought that would happen.

Somehow I am beginning to lose all respect for American leadership both the communists Democrats and Republicans. The entire Washington DC is nothing than a bunch of criminals robbing Americans to fill their pockets.

If I were President Trump, I would immediately make a glass pile of North Korea. Fat Chance. Then I would tell Putin that we continue to fly anywhere we damn please and if you target up well will destroy the targeting immediately. And for Iran, you are done. Impossible, they who in the hell are we?

I have to agree, yet it was a very tough way to spend what should be the best years of a young life. I hope he serves as an example to his peers and makes them consider their place in the world more thoughtfully. We should have a moratorium on travel to NK.

Murder. Cold-blooded murder.

A Freeper who has been following this story in great detail, whose name I can't recall, posits that Otto tried to commit suicide by hanging and failed. That actually makes a lot of sense. NK uses these people as bargaining chips. If they kill or substantially injure them, their value as bargaining chips is substantially compromised. Typically, folks returned by the Norks come back in good shape, after a substantial payment or concession has been made, of course. A failed suicide attempt by hanging would explain the lack of oxygen that caused his brain damage.

Sorry, but this is what happens when you make stupid decisions. A little college side trip to North Korea? What The hell do they expect? I’m not going to waste time on stupid. Better things to do.

Remember, Otto was on a Young Pioneer tour. The Young Pioneers harkens back to Lenin’s Communist summer camps for Soviet children. The tour group runs tours to Communist countries.

"Pioneers" was a common name for Communist youth groups in Communist countries.

But in this case "Young Pioneer Tours" may just be the name of the travel agency.

I guess there's a gray area here since everything is political in a totalitarian state, but I don't think Warmbier or his parents thought taking the tour meant endorsing North Korea's ideology.

A young Kim went to among the best private schools in Switzerland,
but I guess an accidental heroine overdose would have been uncouth.

We invest trillions and trillions in defense and armaments and what do we get in return? Dead Americans.

Where are the cojones?

Honest to God, we need to go nuclear on some backwater. It would put the whole world in fear of us again. We need to be feared, not loved.

We have a real leader in office now, a guy who got Otto out of North korea in less than 5 months. The problem is he has enemies of his country in the Democratic and Republican party fighting him every step of the way.

Ok-he was a dam dumb kid-we all have them or did or will. He did not deserve to be brutalized and ultimately murdered for stealing a poster of fat boys daddy. The norks and kim boy need to suffer for this. China could put pressure on the norks if they would instead of playing footsy.

First sentence of the State Department's warning about travel to North Korea:

The Department of State strongly warns U.S. citizens not to travel to North Korea/the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Tour or not, it's still dumb.
